wow Vince - that is pretty different for you isn't it.?
Rather inspiring actually. :)
It seems no matter what you do , I am bound to be inspired.
Catchy title too - It helps to make these winners.
This is my first post to IA.
Vince, these are all really cool but it's the first one which speaks to me most: it conjures up a chiffon scarf dancing in a breeze ... and a feeling of exhilaration.
Were these done entirely in charcoal, or is there ink in there somewhere? Could you tell us what the dimensions are? :)

Different?! Are you kidding!? lol. This is a leap off the deep-end ;)
You are one of the reasons I keep sharing my art here on WC. I shouldve known I'd bump into you here, your posts are all over the map :D

Hey thanks EJ. These were my first posts to IA too, I liked the idea behind the forum and I will be sure to share more pieces. These were done on Strathmore 300series 18X24 entirely with charcoal; I use compressed and willow/vine - whatever chunky pieces I can buy. Each have their own unique marks.

Vince, These are terrific! I just viewed your other thread and they are just great, too!
We don't need words to communicate feelings. Reminds me of dance.
I can imagine these museum framed, and hanging all together in a great space.

The one thing in common in this group is the texture that you have acheived. I love texture!
1. I enjoy the flow of the piece. Like ink blots we all see different things. In this one I see birds.
2. Reminds me of a dancer experiencing freedom in their movement.
3. I see many faces.
4. A bird getting ready to land on a tree branch.
5. A horse running over uneven ground.
6. A face showing discord.
7. A ship at sea.
8. A landscape caught in a storm.

Very original Vince,
They have the feel of something that's coming out of an intense mind now on the loose. Know what i mean?

Its so exciting to read all this! Thanks for the feedback. I had to tile my windows as I read it so I could see the drawing at the same time. Im so fascinated with what people have said they see in my drawings - its one of the reasons why I post em!
Ive done so many of these now. What I've found interesting is that I lose a lil' affection for yesterdays work. In other words, I have this inner feeling that I can do better whenever I get set to do another drawing session.

River, know what you mean?! Hells ya! Its such a crazy feeling to let this run its course and I am enjoying every bit of it!
Gorgeous.
I see a sword war.
These look like the essence of dance, the flight of exhilirating ecstatic music, photographs of the inexpressable.
I hope you do more in this vein, Vince. I dig them.

My faves are 1 and 5 (I see birds in flight, and jaguar running).
I know words are no match for pictures, but since this IS the inspiration forum, I'll ask my question. Could you say something about what has been inspiring these? It's an apt question around here - almost as popular as asking "what size, what paper, which pens", over in the ink forum ;). By the way, what size ARE these?
Great work,
Rachel
Hi Vince, long time no see!
I find these really really uncomfortable to view..... all those sharp points, especially number one, I could'n have it on my wall...well that got some strong reaction eh?
I like number 2, and you know, that I like you pure lines...perhaps it's the really dark ones that disturb me too..
I want to know what was going through your head at the time, feelings and thoughts...

Hi Vince, nice to meet you!
I love these. The first speaks to my dancing heart.... I love the feel of dance and I can't do it anymore. But looking at that first one brings the same feeling to my heart.
But I also love the last one. That one speaks to my active joyful heart that loves to be out and running around (which I can't do anymore either).
I just love art that creates feeling!
