I'm gonna hog a thread!

After seeing the beautiful beads that Katie was putting out, I decided to try them for myself. They're still not as long as I like, they all about 60mm, just short of 2 1/2" ... but I'm getting there! I'll try some longer ones tomorrow.

... and the "final four"

(I still have some work to on getting the ends even)

Great beads! Now a question, for all of you long skinny-bead makers...(that's the beads being long and skinny, not necessarily the makers  )...
How in the world do you get them off the mandrels???

And, what bead release are you using? I'm a "fusion" gal, been one since day one, but sometimes I have real "issues" with getting the bead off. (The long beads, regular ones are okay). I do have a dandy bunch of plant-sticks though....

Thanks everyone! :D

I'm a Foster Fire girl - they are a little more difficult to get off than a "regular" bead, but I just hold the mandrel with pliers and gently twist the bead back and forth, pulling slightly. They do come off!

I like the turquoise ones too! They are so pretty! The long ones are always a challenge for me...I always end up with "split ends!"
And I love the name Kabuki...I have a necklace named that. It just screams fun to me!
Great job-

Hey Vikki!

Looks like you need to get some of those little cocktail forks to put those beads on! That would be so awesome!

I'll be in Chicago in June and plan to scoop some over at Ikea!

Thanks for sharing!
