Woo woo... I get to start one!
First my sad attempt at raked dots, got mad at it and squashed em, my first cross, I'm not happy with it, but DH thinks my mom will love it, aqua and black beads, and some florals with salmon dichro inside believe it or not

And finally, my one and only troll, I know she's late for the challenge, but I drew the sketch for her before, only got around to making her this weekend.

Sarah....the cross is outstanding!!!!

I hope this week is better than last week.......and...wish me luck......as....I have 3 cigarettes left.......and I am not buying anymore!! It is time to take control of my health!! (what a month to do this....but ....there is never a good time to quit....soo.....I am taking the plunge.....and I am AFRAID!!!!)

Lets see...............not too successful this week, the first 2 pics are of an awesome bead that I can't get a good pic of. It was suppose to be Mattise's Eygptian Curtain, however it turned out very Michael Barley ish....with the red poked dot in the center. Then I was trying differnt color combos for my Van Gogh series....This was the best, but still not as good as my red combo! Then I played around with the rainbow :D

Nurse Katie - as always great goodies
Lynn- Those fish are so cut - I love his eyes - Love the brights !

Welll didnt get much torch time this weekend- being so nice out had to do stuff outside - build a shed for my Hoaf kiln (its propane has to live outdoors for now)Got a few painted things done - testing pen and ink style painting along with testing fusemaster along with paradise (still like the paradise- brighter)

Sarah - again - you go the extra mile to try all sorts of things, I LOVE the cross!!

Katie you know how important quitting will be... just be strong. Lean on us for support! In the end, your family will be thrilled to have you healthy and alive!

Deborah, dang girl... those are great! Did YOU do those paintings? The detail is amazing... show us more as they progress!

I will have to think back and see what I've got that's worthy of showing...
hmmm - after years of beadmaking - and virtually NO flowers - I dove in. I feel like a child making lollypop trees... but - for me, that's the style that works right now.

Wow! Tough acts to follow this morning!!

Sarah! The cross is fabulous, I'm sure your Mom would love it - besides being from her loving daughter, how could she not love it?!?

Katie! Gorgeous bicones! Love the rainbow one! And good luck on the quitting. It's hard, but think of how much money you'll be saving that you cn spend on glass!

Lynn, love the look on Momma fishie's face!! LOL!! And baby is too cute!!

Jill! You always seem to come up with the most original ideas even with something as simple as a floral!! Gorgeous!!!

Here's a very simple aqua set of mine, with one of my handmade charms, along with 2 bicones that my dh did, plus a set of silvered ivory Riverstones!

Can't wait to see what follows!!

Hugs from Holland,
Sarah

Sorry about your raked dot bead....try making the base bead a bit larger, then after you have added each row of dots, heat each dot and squish it, then pause at each dot as you are reheating it, this brings them back up quicker and does not get the center as hot as if you just spin the bead, (don't pause too long, or the inside will still heat up and sag) also, as you get a few colors on, if you are pausing at each dot, it keeps things streighter, where as if you spin, the dots start leaning towards the dirrection you are spinning in, you can always streighten them out, but you risk breaking your bead release...Then, once you have the colors on, turn your torch way down and heat just the colors on the dots, where you want to rake, and get them good and hot (with the smaller flame you can get the spot hot, without mushing everything else) and then rake them....Hold the bead at an angle so you are putting the heat just up the side that you want to rake, and then the other side does not get all hot and pull over with the side you are raking. I am gonna do a good tutorial, but it will be a couple weeks now...My regulator broke, and I commited to having 17 bracelet sets to go to Africa, and they have to be done my May 1st to mail out, so I will be playing catch-up and then I will get the tutorial done, with pictures and everything - God Bless - Virginia L.

Hello, there are no bids yet, so you could change it still, what do you think of the idea as - their choice of focal, if the price goes for under a certain $ amount and both, it the bid goes over a certain $ amount...Really pretty beads, by the way - God Bless - Virginia L.

Gorgeous gorgeous creative inspiring stuff around about here!!!!

Jamn, seems to me that online shoppers can be easily confused and many shop by pictures alone no matter what you write in the text. I have seen an alternative to what you are doing though. The seller lists the focals seperately from the other beads, but mentions it in the listings so that bidders will check the other auctions and bid on each component individually. You could just state that both focals are included. OR break the beads into two sets each with its own focal. Just ideas...good luck!!

At the risk of being so late in the day that nobody even sees this, here is what I made right before Claire had to go to the hospital. Didn't get to take pictures of them until today. These beads soaked at 970 degrees in my kiln for 3 days before someone here noticed I ran to the emergency room and left the kiln on.

I finally got a chance to melt some more glass. I played with more Boro. I love it but I'm getting convinced I need (ok, I *want*) something hotter than my Minor burner.

It's a bit overcast today and I took these pics out on the deck, so they don't have the flash and depth that you'd see in person. First, the whole works with a little text about what glass I used (colors are Glass Alchemy, clear is Simax):

Hi Linda,
My daughter caught roto-virus from her cousin and was just getting more and more dehydrated. I tried to keep up with her, almost forcing pedialyte on her and I finally had to throw in the towel and take her to the ER around 11:30PM Wednesday. I left the kiln running, thinking I would be back home, but they took us by ambulance to the hospital (not as dramatic as it sounds..she needed IV fluids and I couldn't take her in the car since they already had the IV in place) so I never got to come home until late Friday night when Claire was discharged from the hospital. She is doing much much better now and we finally have a handle on things. My husband noticed the kiln on out in the studio when he took a bag of garbage out through the mudroom (studio) Saturday afternoon. I ran the ramp down schedule then, so yeah, Heidi,...I could probably fast pitch these and have them hit into the parking lot with an aluminum bat and they wouldn't break. LOL Which just might happen when we get the electric bill. No, actually...I just listed these on eBay right before I posted them here and when I went back to check they were sold already. That always worries me...makes me think I am selling them too cheap, even though I was really happy with my buy it now price. I don't browse ebay to look at lampwork beads, but I am thinking maybe I should just to make sure I am not screwing up. Pricing is such a personal thing though...maybe I will just be happy that my stuff is selling and leave well enough alone. LOL

Thanks Linda!! Do you really have a frequent ER card, and how do I go about getting one of those? LOL

Heidi, I like the long bicone best, but I think the tab goes better with that set, but that is 100% personal preference, no technical reason.

How is your daughter feeling now? I hope your daughter is ok now! I guess they can't do anything for a virus except hydrate her and make her comfortable!! I know how ER's are with 4 kids at home!! My 4 1/2 year old got his appendix taken out at three.. Whew what a week 1/2 that was!!
