View Full Version : How To Locate Classes In Silver
04-11-2004, 09:56 PM
I am interested in learning the basics of silver work, soldering jump rings, making simple chain, etc.
What should I look under to try and locate classes that might be offered near me? I tried looking up Jewelry Design but what I found was not what I'm looking for.
I live between Orlando & Ocala, Florida.
Thanks for your help,

how about chain mail? or chain maille? too bad you don't live out here in the SF bay area - i know just the teacher for you. tom colson is a fabulous teacher!
check out this book - it's really good. it's been my chain-making "bible".

Try contacting local lapidary clubs, most of them offer silversmithing classes, or at least will be able to let you know which direction to go. You can also try your local school board for their continuing education programs. Many of them offer jewelry classes.
Oh, here's a link to the Lapidary Journal's list of lapidary clubs!
