1chameleon asked me if I'd post some of my work in here for the seascape fans, so here you all are. This was my first attempt at painting a beach, done in October last year.

Beach. 2003.

16" x 16". Oil on canvas

Gareth,

I saw this painting posted in another forum and when I saw it I almost fell offa my chair cos I thought it was the reference photo at first! I absolutely LOVE this painting! The way you have the light coming through the clouds and the way it dances on the water is awesome! Absolutely gorgeous!

Okay, guess I'm gonna have to put a seascape on my list of "paintings to do". :D

Hi Gareth,
I first saw this in Landscapes after Larry Seiler asked if you could post it there, having seen it in Abstracts. Now Eugene asks if you could post it in Marine. This should be telling you something about this work.
It is stunning!
Fabulous handling of light and movement, this is a masterful work.

I thought that a new forum would be really slow. Which goes to show how much I know...

Thank you all the responses. I've got more seascapes that I'll put up for you, I'm just really wary of swamping the forum with them and time's really short here at the moment. I've got a couple of shows coming up which I need more work for, so it feels like every moment I've got is spent either painting or exhausted...

I wish I could be on that side of the world so I could attend your shows :(

Hope you are refreshed enough to keep painting :)

This painting is able to hold your attention. There are many painting that you take a quick look at and you move on. I found myself wanting to keep looking. I am fascinated by the light effect. This is well done. I love the way the broken rays of light fan out through the clouds. If this is your first beach painting what would you improve in your second?
