Hi All,
Welcome everyone to the Marine Art Forum.
I'd just like to say YAHOOOOO :D
Okay, now that I have that out of my system, to the post at hand. Typical, the new Marine Art forum gets up and my last work was a rose! And what's more, with my schedule for the next month I probably wont get around to getting much work down at all.
But I intended to post the works I am putting in an exhibition in two weeks in one thread when the new forum got up. Most of these have been in other forums over the last couple months, now they are ready for the show. The exhibition is at the Margaret River Masters, a major international surfing contest here in Western Australia, big crowds, lots of media.
I have done a series of works of beaches in the Cape to Cape region of Western Australia. Margaret River sits about right in the middle of this stretch of coast. These are all 1000cm by 750cm (about 40ins by 30ins) on gallery wrap canvas. Acrylic. Three are sold already. Sorry for such a big post.

uhuh..you want us to be here all nite don't you??:D:D
first comment is for the first pic...I'm bothered by the duplication you have in the hill shape(foreground) and the dark and light sand...I would vary one or other a tad..
now I KNOW Aussie sea can be very deep intense blue, but I still think you have your sea as the brightest (highest key?) part(whereas it should grey down a bit SOMEWHERE to the distance)..and I 'd like to see both more variety in colour in your water, and also more darkest darks in your foregorunds in general, rather than mostly in the mid ground as now..
but I do LOVE your work overall, love the scenery...would you be willing to upload some of your unique scenes (not necessarily the ones you want to paint) to the ref library? we would all love to try some of these I think..and I'll work on uploading some of my NZ ones as well..
which 3 sold?
BTW the spray on your last wave is superfantastic!!!

Marty, I hope you'll post photos from the show once everything is up and hanging. I love seeing pics from openings. I'll bet these will look great hanging on the walls. Congratulations on the pre-show sales! I think the big wave paintings are my favorites.

Very nice seascapes. I especially like the one with the driftwoody thing...and the rocky ones as well.

Hi Gill...Thanks for the critiques, I need them and will take your comments in to my new works. I do intend loading some of my images into the library, I have been so busy lately. My file system is a little chaotic, I hope to restructure it and get some of those uploaded. The third, fourth and fifth have sold.
Hi Jamie...no walls on this occasion. They will be on supports in a big two- story marquee sitting on a cliff top overlooking the ocean. It isn't a formal show, just part of the overall event and a good chance to show my wares. I did it last year too and sold four at the event.
Hi Eugene...they are fairly big. The house is no problem, it's getting them in the car to the show....
Hi Dawn...thanks so much, glad you got here.
Hi Rhi...pull out those brushes and get wet!
Hi Alan...thanks, I think we are going to be busy in this forum.
Hi Lyn...thanks so much.
Hi Sandy...that is one of my favouites too. Thanks.
Hi Carol...much appreciated.
Hi Lorijo...thanks for your kind words.

Ohhhhhhhh beautiful Mark. Have you been to Esperence? The sea is just this same blue. Don't touch a thing. It wouldn't be WA otherwise.

Marty I dont think you have looked at what you actually typed...1000cm x 750cm is....10 x 7.5 METRES or about 33 x 24 FEET ....hence my surprise :D ;) ;)

They're all great, Marty. I think my favourite has to be #6 with the driftwood. Good luck with the show.

Hi Teanne...thanks so much. I lived in Albany for four years and I've been to Esperance a few times. The South Coast water has to be seen to be believed. If it was painted as it appears everyone would just go " yeah right, no way is the water like that!" I tried to get the WA light and colour into these works. One thing about WA, if going outside, grab those sungalsses!
Hi Eugene...lol. Now I see what you are saying. mm of course in those measurements. Boy they would take some time at 10m!
Hi Joy...thank you also.
Hi Leaflin...much appreciated. I have my fingers crossed.
Hi Marion...thanks. I think I have grown too attached to the last!

Hey, Marty, saw a fleeting TV image today, you might want to paint..
picture a wave..but no blue..just green sea water(clear green) and reflected very warm golds on the front flat and rising part of the wave..no surf...think you would like to do it?..it sounds to me like a great variation on your very masterful theme..wave macro~!..I should think quite appropriate for late day Aussie sun!!..wish I had snapped it off the TV to show you..

These paintings are fantastic, I like that Ozzy blue colour, I'm sure your show will go well-----------good luck------------Alan

Hi Gill...I wish you had captured that image too, it sounds like something I would like to tackle. Green and gold.. hmm our national colours, maybe I could call it Patriot Waves. :D
Hi Alan...thanks for your very nice comments.

LOL Now you see!! :)....I knew you painted fairly fast but that was ridiculous!! ;)

Good luck Marty. These paintings are all great. I'm sure that these are all honest renderings of those actual scenes. Yax

Thanks very much, Yax. I'm hoping many people at the show will recognise these beaches pretty quickly.
