Hey Gang!
I've had lots of requests for new forums, and requests to remove rarely visited forums. Of course, as I've always maintained, this is YOUR place - you DO have a vote. So cough it up - what'll it be?
Aside from the new photography forum, we've had several requests for an "Alternative Materials/Mediums" forum.
Should we keep Tole? Speak up! http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Cheers.
Scott

Alternative materials is very much of interest to me. Methods also. Maybe tole might fit into this group?

A mixed media section would be great. Tole hasn't seemed to attract much interest might as well delete it.

I have a friend who is a tole painter and I have been trying to get her to come to wetcanvas. She is a teacher of tole and would be a great asset to WC. Could we wait a few more weeks before we delete tole?

Scott, I suppose if there are Forums that haven't seen much activity in many weeks..or show very little activity, you could probably delete them.
You have covered a lot of ground here, and you've included many of the most popular mediums.
Some of the Forums (just based on the numbers), don't see very much activity.

Llis - no problem....we'll keep our fingers crossed. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Scott, what if you open up a general discussion like area for art form`s that don`t get hit on that much and put them together that way if someone comes in here and does`nt see there medium listed they still can post in the general forum and if there medium start`s to attract enough attention you can open up a board specific for that medium, it seem`s Tole & Scrathboard have`nt had interest in over 6 month`s and there is no forum for Pen and Ink, or Calliography.Seem`s like a general area might be nice for all different art medium`s that the majority don`t hit on but some people would really enjoy. You could call it YOUR MEDIUMS,or OTHER MEDIUM`S. Hey....I like that idea, Kaz. "Other mediums" sounds good to me. Scott could just move existing threads from Tole, China, Oriental, Murals and Scratchboard into one forum. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

Mixed Media/other Mediums area sounds great.
A couple of other ideas that have been floating around in my head...
A free use photo album, kinda like the chatters have in the Cafe webpage and the photos in the on-line lessons here, out on the main page or in a forum.
A "show-off" forum where we can show our work but do not want a critique on it.

Quick Update:
The following forums have been axed:
Auction Discussions
Scratchboard
Porcelain/China Painting
Oriental Art
Murals
Pierre's Quiktips
On the chopping block for examination in the next few weeks are:
Tole
New Forums:
Other Mediums (scratchboard, calligraphy, pen/ink, etc.)
Alternative Materials
We've also added descriptions next to each forum - to make it clear to new visitors what each forum is all about.
Also, we've created some new categories (Subjects, Mediums, etc.).
Cheers.
Scott

Scott, although i did occasionaly visit the murals forum, i agree with the other changes & especially like the idea of the 'other mediums' we will probably see some intersting stuff there! Thank you! (might this include the really cool cake i just finished?) i also think the descriptions under each forum on the main page is a good idea, particularly for new people. Cheryl

Great job with the reorganisation. I like the descriptions, too. Just wondering about moving Landscape and Portraiture up a bit as they look a bit sad on their own at the bottom there, IMHO. (Honestly, artists! Never satisfied! http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/wink.gif )
It all looks much clearer, though.

I think 'alternative', and 'other' are great categories to deal with subjects that may not as yet have enough support to justify an exclusive thread. If and when there is enough interest, establishing a new thread would be easy. Good work.
