Hello everyone;
I have been keeping a low profile. I have missed everyone.
I have finally finished the parrot I started over a month ago and have attached the photo. I do apologize for my camera. The bird is not fuzzy.
Golden Fluid Acrylics on a dark blue Tee.
I started with a freehand sketch, then redrew it on a heavy card stock which I cut for a mask of the birds outline.
Background was laid in kind of lazy like.. mostly dark greens, yellow tones and burnt umber. I went back at the end and added some white highlights to the leaves. I had a terrible time with the adhesive I am using and could not get my mask to stick properly and finally ended up using just shields. (Going to have to make myself go to the store...grrrr, I hate shopping; NO, I hate going out) Anyway, the parrot was based with white, two layers air dried in between. After the base had dried, I put in the shadows, and basic lines, feathers and so forth. Then began applying the colors. Since I can not erase, I began with the lighter colors and worked my way to the darkest. After drying again, I added more white to the face and feather highlights.
This was a practice for me to see if; 1. I could do it. 2. How long it would take me. 3. practice on dark background. I did learn a lot from doing this piece and now may decide to do his brother/sister which is in flight.
I hope you like it.
