Hello everyone;

I have been keeping a low profile. I have missed everyone.

I have finally finished the parrot I started over a month ago and have attached the photo. I do apologize for my camera. The bird is not fuzzy.

Golden Fluid Acrylics on a dark blue Tee.

I started with a freehand sketch, then redrew it on a heavy card stock which I cut for a mask of the birds outline.
Background was laid in kind of lazy like.. mostly dark greens, yellow tones and burnt umber. I went back at the end and added some white highlights to the leaves. I had a terrible time with the adhesive I am using and could not get my mask to stick properly and finally ended up using just shields. (Going to have to make myself go to the store...grrrr, I hate shopping; NO, I hate going out) Anyway, the parrot was based with white, two layers air dried in between. After the base had dried, I put in the shadows, and basic lines, feathers and so forth. Then began applying the colors. Since I can not erase, I began with the lighter colors and worked my way to the darkest. After drying again, I added more white to the face and feather highlights.

This was a practice for me to see if; 1. I could do it. 2. How long it would take me. 3. practice on dark background. I did learn a lot from doing this piece and now may decide to do his brother/sister which is in flight.

I hope you like it.

Very nice fro what I could see... they were a bit small on my computer so detail was poor. Colors and background look great. Looking forward to seeing more!

Cherri,

Nice job! Like those primary colors. Wish the pic was bigger but it looked nice to me.

Good to see you Cherri :)
The image is quite small, but from what I can see it looks great.
I don't think anybody would complain if you showed us a bigger image :)
Please :D

Okay. I tried to make it bigger... I hope you can see it better now..
Some day maybe I will get a camera and software that will be better. I did have to lighten the photo just a bit, but it did not change the colors. Again, the bird is not fuzzy on the shirt.

Thank you all for you kind words.

Hi Cherri!

The bird looks fantastic! Looks like a photo---great job! Has anyone ever tried painting tee shirts with urethanes? I haven't tried it yet but was wanting to paint a shirt for my son, and don't want to have to switch paints to do it. Obviously, urethanes are what I paint with! I DO know that when I get paint on my clothes, it doesn't wash out! I just wonder if it would keep the brilliant colors--or would they all fade out---? Thanks for any suggestions from anyone!

Nope, can't be done. Urethanes crack when washed and it's a mess, it won't last through the first washing. I know, I tried it in a pinch thinking the same thing. BTW, I can wash those nasties out of my cloths. :)

Thanks Penny, Guess I won't try urethanes on tee-shirts then! Okay, what in the world do you use to get the paint out? Must be some kind of magic stuff!

Hi Maryl, Far as changing paint. Createx has diff. set's you can buy and depending one what size you get it isn't that much. Or you can go to local
art store for a 4oz. it is between 3 to 4 dollars. I orderd a big set though
www.bearair.com and I wasted them all by leaving them in the garage. :(
Oh well it's only money right.
