The painters in the North and Central Florida area are organizing a Paint OUt on the beautiful Gulf Coast of Florida. (See WC Events forum) It will be held on Sept 30th. It started with a couple of WC members but has grown to a really good sized group. We are all looking forward to this. It has been suggested that other groups of WC members and thier artists friends put together groups in various parts of the world to do the same. We can share the results afterwards. We can be as though we are one huge painting party but in different parts of the world! I know that Pilan is looking for some people in California to join her. If you're interested please contact her and post here as well.
I think it would be wonderful to see the different parts of the world through the eyes of the talented members of WC as well as photos of our members in 'action'. :) Please consider joining us for a day of painting. For those of you who have never painted in the fresh air try it! You'll be hooked! :) If you decide afterwards that outdoor painting is not for you remember.... a bad day of painting is better than a good day at work ;) and we'll all have some great photos to share. I think i may even get my husband to come along on this one. He is not an artist but he can take pictures. If you do not live within traveling distance of other WC members you ay want to go out and paint alone. a 'party of one' paint out, but please share the results with us.

I love this idea! I am getting to be a pro at publicity lately...l...
...so be sure to contact the TV stations! You never know when they may be having a slow day, and would just love some feel good human interest story. Also, newspapers LOVE to have their work all done for them, so submit pictures to them with the full story already written out!
And hey Cheryl! How's the horsie coming?? Show us some progress shots!!!! :D

Jane, I think this is really a great idea. Okay, now you all got me going here. I belong to a large workshop gallery and paint every saturday. I think what I will do is make flyers and pass them around to the galleries and workshops about the paintout. I have a lot of painter friends that maybe interested in this and wetcanvas group. How do you propose a flyer here. I will be happy to have some printed up here in my town and to email them to other local painters and to long distant painters I know.
Maybe you can be the one to get the WC wwp ( world wide paintout ) spead via the tv stations etc. Who knows this may bring a lot more members for WC. What do you and Cheryl think about this idea? By the way I will be going to Lake Tahoe for my paintout and if there are any other painters in the bay area that would like to join me, let me know. I think it would be so much fun and look forward to this now world wide event that is taking shape.
Is this a good idea and will it bust the servers for wc if we get tons of hits as a result of this?

LOL! Pilan! I Love your enthusiasm! :D I think that to do a simple flier that you can distribute and e-mail is a great idea! We can make this a very special event and an important one for artists everywhere if we get on it soon! Miss jane, you should think about some publicity in your area. I will deliver my horse to be clear coated on Thursday. Thanks for asking. He turned out very well! I can't wait to see him standing in town! At the time of delivery, i will ask Laurie Mennard (Horse fever chairman) if we can't get a blurb about the WWPO (World Wide Paint OUt) mentioned in our local paper along with the next press release about the 'Horse Fever' project. I may be able to get it done, since i'm going to name drop 'Linda Blondheim' to her. Linda is the other WC memeber who is behind the Paint out and she happens to also exhibit at the Blue Heron gallery. The Blue Heron gallery has been an active participant in the 'Horse Fever' project. Gawd i LOVE name dropping lol! :D This could be the beginning of a wonderful yearly tradition. Let's make it happen! And yes, Pilan, it could mean a zillion hits for WC because it will always be mentioned in press releases and so forth but i think we can handle it! :D I think that this is a wonderful opportunity for Cybor living for artists to join real life artists lives.

By the way, i can't believe that this has only 40 days to come to fruition! UGH! At least once it's over we'll have an entire year to plan next years' WWPO!!! At that time we will have to have 'hosts' who would resaerch hotels etc....

Cheryl, I will get started on the flyer and pass it by you and you can pass it by whomever at WC. I think this is so exciting and I am so glad that we are embarking upon an event that may become an annual thing here.
OH, if there is a certain graphic (s) that I need to use in the development of th flyer, please let me know.
xo to all

BEST OF LUCK! I can't wait to see the coverage on the BBC. ;) Wish I could joint you but my mom will be visiting then, to see my show that opens on Sept 28th. Not sure she'd appreciate me bunking off to go paint. I hope other UKers take part, and maybe this will become an annual event so I can join next year!
If you do an "ad" for it I'd be happy to put it on my webpage - I get a lot of hits from Wetcanvasers who might not hang out in the Cafe. :)

Cheryl, I have made three html files as well as 4 different graphics. Here is the link to my server to retrieve them. I am just hoping that they print out landscape 11 x 8.5.
Just tell me what adjustments are needed and if the information is okay to go with. Does WC need to approve this first?
http://www.folsomweb.com/art_by_Pilan/
just click on the html files first to get a view of the flyers.
wwpo1.html wwpo2.html wwpo3.html #3 is the b&w.
also available are the actual graphic files.

Yes Pilan, as i've also answered in the WC Events forum, we do need to get approval. I will keep you updated on that. Thanks so much!

Had a peek at the files, they look cool. Once it's approved let me know and I can do a screenshot and resize for my webpage. Nifty. :) I also get the newsletter from absolutearts.com - they list all the art events. Usually galleries, but also some competitions and stuff. Maybe you could submit the listing to them? Not sure how it works.
