Hello everyone, it has been a while since I have posted anything. So here it goes.

"Lazy Sunday" 11 x 14 acrylic on masonite. Only about 30 percent was Airbrushed. I'm still learning Acrylics and the airbrush so be kind. Thanks again to RhianonJ for the beautiful refer photo of "It's a Pearl" in Image lib.

Sorry about the ugle color my digital camera takes. Here is a cropped version using my scanner. The scanned version is much closer to the true colors.

I hope this looks better.

Well...being a catman:)...you've won me because I love it when they play the kitten.
This is a great artwork...there is enough left to the imagination to not completely label it "photo realism"...and I like that.

Whenyou say about 30% was airbrushed...how do you mean...some of the fur or the underpainting?

It is good work though and if you are still learning...well congrats.

So....subject :excellent
colours good...maybe some more blues and greens in the shadows...I saw some there:)
execution: great.....but please explain where the airbrush comes in...(just for me...the dum one)
style: great.

Naaaa...I really enjoyed this work.......as I said I am a Cat-man...or cat-person:)

Gaz

P.S...I have a couple of cat pics I can show you...later:)..eh?

I just had to take the time to post a reply for this one. Very beautiful piece. The detail and texture in the fur and the rug fringe is just perfect, and althoug I'm not a cat fan, I am an art fan and this is wonderful. Thanks for sharing and if you're just leaning the airbrush I'm definately looking forward to seeing more.

Gaz,

Whenyou say about 30% was airbrushed...how do you mean...some of the fur or the underpainting?

All of the underpainting and alternating layers of the fur were done with AB.

P.S...I have a couple of cat pics I can show you...later..eh?

I love cats, I look forward to seeing the cat pics. EMail them to me.

coherent,

Thank you for the compliment. Yes, I have alot to learn about Airbrushing especaily getting fine details with it. I still have better control of the paint brush for fine details. I'm hoping someday that will change. I love to Airbrush, it adds so much to the finished piece.

Donna, you have been holding out on us!!!!

I love this, and being a cat person as well, I love the subject! The fur is outstanding! I like the afgan and I admire you for it's rendition!

I'm getting so old, I can't remember if you and I have discussed the masonite! If so, forgive me, if not was this your first time working on it and how did you like it? What paints are you using?

Let's see some more!

Sam,

I love cat too. They are one of my favorite animals.

I'm getting so old, I can't remember if you and I have discussed the masonite! If so, forgive me, if not was this your first time working on it and how did you like it? What paints are you using?

The getting old part, I thought that was my line! I can't remember if we talk about masonite or not. The majority of my art was done on canvas. But after trying masonite about 8 months ago, I have to say I absolutly love the stuff. I don't think I'll ever go back to Canvas again. I'm lazy and don't have time to gesso my on boards so I have been buying Gessobord by Ampersand from Dickblick.com. For those who like ereasing, I would recommend Claybord Orginal Smooth. Masonite is so smooth, it is fantastic for fine details.

I'm using primarily Liquitex and Martin/F. Weber Co. Prima acrylic. I love the prima Warm white. I havnt found any other brand of acrylic that has such a rich warm white color.

My next piece of art work I'll try to use the airbrush even more.

Beautiful work, Donna. Good luck with your airbrushing... I am trying to learn to use the airbrush myself, and starting out slowly with it as you are.

Okay, ya'll... I don't usually visit this forum. I'm usually hanging over in Oil Painting. But I just had to bop in over here and just say, Donna you did an excellent job in painting my Pearl girl!

You did a wonderful job with handling the softness of her fur and the details of my Mom's afghan is awesome. Wish it looked that good in real life. :D

Pearl is walking around with her tail in the air now that she's had her portrait painted and all the other cats are jealous and are whinning about having THEIRS done! :D

Absolutely stunning!!

Very nice! Yes, my camera too doesn't take good pictures color-wise. I have to correct it in PS to get it close. Scanning only gets a piece of it so I just snap away and edit the color/brightness etc. in PS.

I need to try the claybord. maybe I will.

Great job!!!

Wonderful painting...I always say... use what works...I don't try to make a airbrush do something it doesn't do well, just for the sake of using it...Very nice ...AS for the cat lover thing...I love cats......you know..if their cooked just right...Rod-Man

Didn't notice the whiskers missing until Cat mentioned it but yep, my Pearl girl is missing her whiskers. My photo doesn't show them very well but they definitely are there.

Hey Donna, how 'bout giving my Pearl some whiskers. :D

Ok, to be honest whiskers can be a little intimidating to paint. So in the orginal post, I only lightly suggested whiskers. I have placed the orginal back on the easel and attempted to add a few more visible whiskers. I hope I have not screwed it up. What do you think?
