View Full Version : Project Discussion: February/March Animal Project

02-21-2004, 09:08 AM
A new project has been announced in the WetCanvas! project system!

Title: February/March Animal Project
Project Leader: animal
Relative Difficulty: Irrelevant
Type Restrictions: Any Type
Medium: Any Medium
Subject: Wildlife
Days open for signups: Always
Maximum participants allowed: Unlimited

Using the reference images provided, produce your work of art.

Do show your progress images and tell us what techniques you are using to complete your work. If you like, you can do both images!

You can work in watercolors, oils, pastel, acrylics, or perhaps you want to draw or sculpt. Any medium you choose will be good for us to discuss.

I\'ve started a thread in the Wildlife Forum so we can talk about our progress and share information.

Remember, you are to only use the reference images below.

The object of this project is to work from the reference photographs and for all of us to see how we all accomplish this task and to share our knowledge.

Be sure to post progress pics in the special thread, and be sure to tell us what you are doing and why.

Have Fun!

Additional Information:

For more information on the project: Click here! (http://www.wetcanvas.com//Community/Projects/browse_details.php?proj_id=652)

Remember, in order to help keep the discussions on projects organized, you should post your questions, suggestions, and comments on submitted work here in this thread. By doing this, we allow other non-project efforts to not get \"pushed down\" by a swarm of project-related threads.

A great Boxer pose! I'd love to try it, but is it possible to get a larger photo? I can hardly see it. :(

I'm so glad you asked. I just posted a larger photo on the imagelib titled "Butch". I can't wait to see the art work. Butch was my special guy for nine years. I hope he insipers many to artistic greatness. :)

This looks like fun. I love the border collie photo, I'm going to try a few different mediums with this project. :) I usually play it safe and stick to graphite.. well not this time. I've made a promise to myself. :D

Irish, This is EXTREMELY well done. I especially like how you mixed watercolour washes over the ink work. :D

Tybalt, I've been informed by animal that you would be interested in the orginial art work of the boxer(it is posted in this project). Please contact me if so. I want to do animal a favor and award the work to you, I understand the love of man and dog.

Beautiful piece, you have certainly captured Butch's wistful look. I think at the time of the photo he was upset because it was taking us too long to get ready to go to the park.

Another excellent rendition of Butch. You have captured his colouring. His face was so dark when he was young that often all that could be made out in photos were his eyes. You have done a wonderful job of layering the different shades of black.

Here is my interpretation of the darling border collie......... he was really fun to draw because I wanted to pet him and take him home.......... they are such loving and smart creatures........ the easiest to train to do almost anything......... I hope that this is the correct format to post the image....

If this is your first attempt, I look forward to seeing what you do when you really get going! I love it - you've caught him (?) her (?) beautifully.

I haven't started mine yet but I will get down to it very soon (famous last words!).

I haven't drawn or painted in soooo long, but I'm feeling the tug of the boxer photo. Don't know where I'd find time, but I might have to try it. I've looked at all the finished work so far and they are all so well done, I might be emabarassed to post mine. I"ll be watching this thread for more cute pooches!

Thank you Shanna and welcome to WC! This drawing is a rare animal portrait for me, I hardly do animals but the boxer pic drew me somehow, I just had to paint it. Its ink detail under watercolor washes, and the pillow (hardly showing here) is lightly suggested. Again, welcome, I've only been on this site four months and I love meeting all the great folks here. Hope you do too :)

I tried to join this project and it gives me an error message-- am I doing something wrong?
