Well...here goes..

There are many and varied styles of airbrush art kicking around this ole world. There are a few trains of thought...and even less room for those who think "outside" the airbrush square.

So, I guess I am one of those.:)...and THAT is why I am here at WC.

I have never conformed to any specific line of teaching...except for my own...and those who have met me have seen my views, will remember them fondly....and just to put it all on the table...I am not here to do the same ole same ole.

I wish to provide an insight for the crowd here, that there IS room for ALL sorts of art AND thinking in this airbrush world.

In the scheme of things...I am no one...a little fish...but in my own mind, I am a visionary taking my airbrush to places people don't even think about.....and that's all I will say on that..eh:)

So, hey mates..they call me Gaz...I am 45 years old and feeling it...ha,ha...I am a carpenter and I have been painting, with the airbrush, for nigh on thirty years..self taught...all freehand and ALL airbrush.
I express with colour and texture.I paint surf scapes and surf art as my speciality...I also love the genre of Still Life.I paint custom auto in acrylics(the old stuff)...and have just about painted on every known thing.

My weapon of choice...my mate...the Olympos 101.

How does one start out in a posting... to a group of people that one doesn't know...when you are me...it's like this...and if I have offended anyone...sorry:).....I just wanna share what I have,...O.K...so whaddaya wanna see...hmmmmm????

Surfscape .."Cabarita"size..eight feet by four feet..plus details
Still Life.."Onions and Garlic"
Portrait.."Tupac"

That's me folks and I have heaps more to share...so go ahead...make my day...I am here.:)

Good onyas and see ya....Gaz

Hey Gaz, it's great to have you join us here! Welcome to Wet Canvas and more importantly, welcome to the Airbrush Art Forum!!

I love all the work you have posted! My favorite is the surfscape! I love your style with this painting and the colors are incredible! Those clouds are sensational and must have taken forever to render!

I would like to know more about what paints you use and what supports you prefer. I invite your unique style and perspectives on the versatility of the airbrush and hope you share all that you can possibly spare!! Your insight is welcome here!

Take care and post more!

Sam man...

Thanx heaps for the welcome...and thanx to KD and Rebel...thanx mate for showing me this place.

As for the clouds....they aren't clouds...that's how the sky looks in all my surfscapes...clear blue and shimmering with heat haze.....it's just how I express it:)

I will be here,at W.C for a long while....I feel at ease and at home.....and don't sweat it...I will show more stuf and yeah possibly a WIP...never done one of them...the closest thing,at the moment.... I have is an underpainting and the finished deal....so here you go...KD

This is a REAL old work ...circa 1981...but my style has not changed...still the same method.

It's a tailgate..using automotive acrylics...also..the Reaper with the pen...is on the hood scoop....he is writing that lovely maiden up in his inventory...how nice:)...ahh yes the things I use to paint.....enjoy.

Good onya Sam....Gaz

Gaz I knew how strong you felt about art, and thought this site was way different than the others. I have not told anyone else from the other boards about this place. I would hate to water it down. I know I can grow here, I want to try some abstract with primery colours. There just so much to read all over this site.

Aussie humor and artistic warmth! Thanks so much for joining us! Are the faces in the painting accidental or intentional? I'm counting quite a few of them.

If the faces are the little yellow paper daisies...then yes they were intentional...otherwise...I didn't put anything like that in this latest work????

Welcome to the WC too HF. Just saw you there for the first time.

Gaz, as a rule I don't look for faces in everything, heck, half the time I can't find them when I know they are hidden! I must of spent too much time on your beach and the sun finally got to me. I don't see that much of it this time of year and well, you know, I overdosed!

Well "ABStan" (aka "Kiwi") said this was a cool place and only the best people hung out here, so I definitely had to have a look see, and as always he is correct!

Penny: got the email and responded - haven't checked the answering machine in a while, so I didn't catch that one.

You'll have to let me know how you like YOUR "pressy" - I'm a bit late on the Christmas deadline (obviously) - was sent off this past Thursday so I'm interested to see how long it takes... (Oh I bet I've got you wondering now)

Mate...Over here..this art is even less accepted than my more "down the line art"...
I had a website ....once...I could count on one hand the amount of response from it...I tried nearly every airbrush forum across the web...till I got a sore head from bashing it up that brickwall.

Take my website...possibly eighty percent of the works were either given away to friends and family...or are still in my possession.

There is no interest TRULY...and you have seen for yourself I am versatile..and I have tried.

Here's one...it's a fridge..."South Stradbroke Island"

Got the fridge for free and painted it up in autos...hard work when you gotta strip them back.....clear coated it in a matt finish and GAVE it to my work mate for a beer fridge.....not too shabby.

I hear your pain! I have done everything in my power to increase traffic and produce sales (I would settle for a inquiry call!) for my website to no avail! I have tried link exchanges and I GET NO REPLIES FROM THE OTHER ARTISTS! I think that my website is a HUGE waste of time and money!

I have watched eBay artists for well over nine months, and I refuse to go that route! Not all, but most eBay artists are selling fantastic art for nearly nothing! This makes it hard for the rest of the artistic realm. After all, why buy art at a decent asking price when I can go to eBay and buy decent art at a $%#@^ STEAL!!!!!? My next endeavor is to hit the exhibition trail!

OK, now that I have aired that gripe, LOL, I love your fridge! I would be proud to have that in my house no matter what it was stocked with!

You are right there, some artists are happy to get someone to buy and they never look at what they are doing to themselves. We had suggested my mom my mom take and show one of her works (and paint something she would enjoy rather then just her regular venue of work) in one of her small parties that she has to show. It wasn't taking her nearly as long, and she was enjoying it and was a WIP and she let it go for what I think is about about 30-50% less then it should have. She has spent a lot of time getting the value of her work up there in galleries and such. So it can happen to anyone. She also takes payments from her regular buyers because she knows them.

My wife is taking over a seqment of her marketting of the reproduction and collectable market as well. (thats a bigger discussion) We are going to be redoing the website but its more a tool to send people to view the artwork. That is what my mom has used it for when my wife set it up. Though we are going to add soon ordering for the reproductions and collectables. My moms site is http://www.lmre.com/gallery

Hey Gaz, just got back from vacation. I love your fridges! I've never thought of painting one. I wouldn't mind some seascapes for reference pics (insert smiley here it's not working for me)

Websites, I have found it to be a gallery. A tag for a business card so people can check out a portfolio in their own time. I'm paying less than $30 annually for both my domain name and site so it's not really a waste of money.
