At Rebecca's suggestion, I started a VERY!! small oil on canvas.
Image size is 8"X10". This is just the very first coat of paint to determine placement, composition, and some values.
Painting (pose) is based on a photo, but before the painting is completed there will be a LOT of changes made. Thought I'd post this very rough draft...(I did do a very simple sketch before I started with the paint) drawing was done with red pencil.
You can see in the area around the navel and upward toward her chin...some values being developed. I'm using very small brushes..some rounds and "brights" (I think they are called). This is one of the smallest paintings I've started in my life!! lol
I prefer to work MUCH bigger...in the neighborhood of 5-feet by 5 or six feet...but at least this little one has started me painting!! :)
I can see a bit of the Schiele influence in this first hour of work.
All comments and thoughts are always appreciated.
Since this canvas is so small, I was able to lay the canvas (still very wet!) on the glass of the scanner. I was hoping to capture the texture of the canvas...and allow the brush strokes to be seen.
