Well everyone is sleeping in this morning!! Here are a couple things a I got accomplished yesterday. The girl is holding a string of hearts and this is the 2nd mouse I've made. The 1st one was a challange bead in Corina's class.

That mouse sure is Cute!

Now some Marbles - The first is an Enamel with Blue aventurine, and the next is a Jovian.

Wow George!! Those are awesome marbles!!! My fav is the blue one!

Anne -- too cute! Have you got a story about these two characters? (Assuming you have read Mike E's thread on creating a setting for your characters?) They are both just perfect! :))

George - is is so good to see ya marbles, didn't you have carpel tunnel surgery (or something like that?) recently? Both those marbles are intriguing!

Here's my entry -- actually made it a while ago... I haven't made anything for quite a few days due to ~life~ getting in the way and am missing ze torch. By the time I can turn it on, I am too tired for anything except for surfing WC! <g>! blame Ann and her inspiration, (and Robin Poff too!) here's a "donni character" :p

Donni I like your little character!! I really don't have a story for my dolls except Corina made me do it!! The very 1st doll I made was for Corina's Spotlight entry for "The Inner Child" inspired from a wood "doll" that I used to make and sell. The mouse was from her class last weekend that was her challange for us to make. It was funny though because at dinner everyone pulled a slip of paper to see what they were going to make, an elephant, mouse, cat, human, etc. Well I pulled the human so I had to trade with someone!! LOL!

Anne - very cute as always!
George - fab marbles, have to agree with Anne, the blue one is my fav as well.
Donni - very cute little guy there!

Here are my sad attempts from last night.
First my attempt for the weekly challenge of add handles to it... I was so happy with it, until I took it from the mandrel and the bottom popped and a piece cracked off. (Two views of the same vessel)
Gypsysoul, posed a real challenge for me. Turquoise goddess with teal hair, and light purple goddess with dark purple hair. Bleh.. had to mix my own colours and I'm NOT happy with either of them. Back to the drawing board. I think I'll pick up some glass this evening at my suppliers. (Two views of 2 goddess beads)
And finally, some hearts. No they aren't going to Corina's challenge, I'm still working on that one. The first one is pink with ruby gold stringer, the middle one is my mixed purple, mixed periwinkle (tried making light purple), with white, then twisted with a stringer like all the directions say to do, all I can say its bleh to stringer twisting. The last one was just a mix of periwinkle, turquoise and trans teal. swirled and moved and shaped into the heart with a blue flower on it it.

Hope everyone has a great glass day!
Hugs from Holland,
Sarah

George.... WOW! I took a marble class with Robert LaGrand, and I still have trouble with those little buggers. I admire marble makers soooo much! I am determined to learn....
Donni... lookin' good!

Here are my offerings.... I made these on Monday, before I had to go to the hospital to see my dad. I had an EXCELLENT boro day....

Oh boy! I love show and tell!

Anne, those doll babies of yours have got to be the cutest things. Man! But then comes the mouse! Awwwwwwwwwwwwww! Reminds me of the Angelina Ballerina book.

George, roll one of those babies my way, huh? C'mon! Just roll it down the driveway and I'm sure it will find its way to me just fine. :D

Donni, I love your sculptural. When the girls were small, we would always play this game and tell them to do the "O face." When I saw that face on your bead, I went back at least 16, 17 years. :music: memorieeeeeeees :music:

Sarah, great vessel, even with the hole in the bottom. I've been conveniently staying away from handles these days. :p And those bodacious goddesses! Man! people pay lots of money to look like that! Maybe you should market those to your local plastic surgeon, huh? Geesh! :D And to add insult to injury, you had to show some great hearts, another thing I'm slightly challenged at these days. BUT, I'm determined to make at least one good heart for the cupid exchange, so THERE! :)

Marilyn, love your lentils. That purple set is so yummy. I always think of my daughter, Alli, when I see purple, so that is my favorite! I think my corina CBS is on its way today. So, maybe by next week, I'll have lentils to share. One can only hope!

Hey Les! I hope your Dad is doing better. Love your boro, as usual. Are you still using the Bobcat and one concentrator to do those or did you upsize? I'd love to be able to get that kind of heat out of my Bob, but I can't seem to get the settings right. Hmmmmm, I guess you need to come to FL. NOW!

Jinx, loooooooooooooove the hearts! Ivory wrapped in silver is so wild, don't you think? Thanks for sharing!

I've been making some more big honkin' beads. I bought some 3/8 mandrels (I think that was the size) from Paulette (among other things :D ) and they were perfect for leather chokers. The leather cord lips right through the bigger holes. My 1/8 mandrels also were pretty great for that as well. So I fired up Bob last night and went to town. This yellow bead is a long strip of BE sheet glass that took me about 20 minutes to melt down - 28 x 33 mm. I don't know. I just love making huge beads. I think door pulls are in my future or something. Anyhow, these are going downtown tomorrow to Arts Day with my friend, Liana, who so graciously offered to put some of my stuff with her booth.

Happy Saturday everyone!

Good morning everyone. Beautiful art as always.

Anne - Your doll and mouse are adorable as always.
George - I really love that blue marble. I need to learn how to do those.
Donni - Your character is great!
Jacinthe - I always love your ladies. Very nice.
Marilyn - Loving those lentils. They look good.
Les - I love that top set. That looks like it screams my name.
Jinx - (pick jaw up) love that heart!
Greg - Love that fish. Nice heart set too!
Leslie - I like making huge beads too. Those look great and my favorite is the yellow.

Here is my contribution for the day. I procrastinated between every bead until I got a rythm going. It probably took me 4 hours to sit still enough for these guys. Up and down. Go check computer. Pet Trinkett. Make bead. Cut mandrels. Make bead. etc....

I'm not sure about the colors, but that's what the muse wanted to play with.

I did upsize.... those were all made on a Cheetah and tank.... BUT it took me forever to get the same good colors as I did with the Bob and concentrator!

Morning All,
cold and frosty here! I made this heart and matching spacers on Thursday, listed on the dreaded "Friday" and it sold to the first viewer(according to Andale) with BIN. So, I guess I won't be so afraid to list on Friday's anymore. I don't know what I'll do after Valentine's, I really enjoy making hearts now!

Lots of pink enamels and some gold purple frit(from Val) stringer.

Ann, I just love your girlies! that little mouse reminds me of Maisy!
George, I'm sorry to hear your hand is still bothering you but boy it does not show in your work! Love the second one!
Donni, Ohhh noooo....that face looks just like Mr. Bill!!! He was a clay cartoon character on the show Saturday Night Live.
Sarah, personally I like those colors on your sexy goddesses! Handles make me sweat...guess I should try the challenge & get over it.
Marilyn, what lentil tool did you use for the larger bead?
Les, Wow that first boro set is fab....such colors!
Jinx, I don't see a hole in the bottom of your heart...is that a hollow off the end of the mandrel? What perfect shape!
Greg, your fish (& parrot) sets are so nice. love the colors in that one. Deanna's first set? you'd never know by that pretty heart!
Leslie, nice honkers, lol! I'm a honker gal, too! That BE yellow is a cool color! Good luck on Arts Day!

I only got to torch for about an hour Thursday. Mostlyt practiced cased twistie beads. But rewarded myself with an organic focal. Lt. topaz & purple base, silver foil, & dots of dk topaz, purple, grape, rubino, & ivory.
Happy, happy, joy, joy, I get to torch for a few hrs. today! First a few chores though. Apologies if anyone sneaks in during this post...it takes forever on my connection.

Fun Saturday Work!

Anne, I just love your glass dolls! The mouse is so adorable, that tutu is sweet and whimsical. I want to see some more!

George,
I've really enjoyed seeing your marbles these last few days. These are just as gorgeous! I would love to learn to make marbles, I just feel so funny without a mandral in my hand though.

Donni,
cute! Reminds me of Mr. Bill, from the old SNL shows.

Sarah,
sorry to hear about the breakage!!! The goddesses turned out much better than you think. I love that brown one, like I envision myself, in a perfect world, lol! The hearts are sweet too.

Marilyn,
lovely lentils, I really love that pastel set, do you have a bigger picture of them?

Leslie,
your boro is delicious! Hope your family is coping well.

Jinx,
that is a beautiful heart, I can't believe it is only ivory and silver? You got some gorgeous colors to pop out!

Greg,
those fish just need a bowl of water! I really like the scales and your fin shapes on that middle fish. Deanna's first set to post or make? They are lovely as well.

Leslie R.,
Wonderful beads! That translucent yellow is cool! And I also love that 2nd one in on the bottom, with the raised transparent dots. Hope they do well at that show!

Saucy,
those are very "saucy" beads! Fun colors, shapes and designs. I keep wanting a closer look at that triangle bead on the left.

Thanks for all the eye candy.

Happy Torching!

Jinx, I don't see a hole in the bottom of your heart...is that a hollow off the end of the mandrel?

It's at the end of the mandrel but it's not hollow.

(Pssssst! If all goes well my tutorial for end-of-mandrel hearts will be in the next "Spotlight On..." ) :D

I have caught the big bead bug, I thought after the one I made where I burnt myself twice and got so tired, I would be done with them, but they seem to be an addiction of their own. This one almost got away, the bead release broke and I had three more colors I was going to add. I would not let it go though, cause it is about two inches think and I had so much time and glass into it. I stopped with these colors, and braced it against itself instead of the madrel and racked the dots and finished it off. I was so surprised when it came off the mandrel. It is a little wonky, but IT LIVED!!! the other group is me trying to make matching beads for some earrings. I need to get this habit to pay for itself. I have this obnoxious stuff called Dystonia. I can make big beads, twisted beads, all kinds of beads, but as you will see in this picture, I cannot put dots on a round bead. I don't think I will EVER be able to put dots on a round bead, and since there are so many incredibly tallented dot on bead people, these are my last attempts. If I need some, I will buy them, cause this is just too frustrating!! I will just be greatful that God allows me to make some beads I am happy with, and forget about trying to do these things that take a lot of finess. God Bless you all - Virginia L. PS: I made a fish yesturday, that will never see the light of day, the poor thing, I am going downhill instead of getting better, but someone was very kind and sent me to a wonderful tutorial on fishes, I think I will be doing MUCH better today - Thanks so much!!!

:D Carolyn - that cactus set is sooooo gorgeous!
Everyone's stuff is wonderful.
Karen - yes, that set is made entirely from that gorgeous coral light batch with transparent Vetrofind pink over it (and periwinkle with dark lavender, and black.) No orange, no yellow, and no other pink. This coral just loves to change color! Encase it with pink and you get a creamsicle color. Leave it raised and it's more of a melon color. Melt it in and it stays coral. It's fab. I never thought I would like coral - I usually don't like the reddish batch.
Okay. I'm stopping now. :D
Thanks for the kind comments, everyone!

Cool! I've always loved cactus and plant beads a la Eleizabeth Blood. Actually stopped doing this style for years, thought they were "mine", loved making them, then saw hers when I got a computer and then decided mine were A. too close and B. terrible compared to hers, so I just stopped making them.

Whatever you do, don't list them on Ebay! I woke up to 3 nasty emails in my mailbox this morning about them. Now I have to figure out who this person is and why my work suddenly upsets her!

If it is, I love it!
We drove up there the first year and puttered around. Chuck forgot that EVERYTHING has spines.....just pushed through a thicket instead of walking around.
I'm sure it's a familiar sight.....but he dropped his jeans and I picked out as much as I could without tweezers.....luckily there were extra clothes in the van! It MIGHT have been funny if it wasn't so painful!

Ouch! Your poor Hubby. I'll bet that was a sight! LOL No, I haven't listed anyhting on Ebay in quite a while but I just can't imagine why anyone would write you a nasty email. Your cactus look so real and they are beautiful!!! Don't give it a second thought. And you know I can't remember where Saguaro National Park was. I know it was the last two days of our vacation so it probably was in Arizona. The flowers on the cactus were so bright. I must have taken about a dozen pictures of them. There is something fasinating about them.
