This looks great... do you like that clayboard better than paper? Not sure that I do, but only have that one done of the leaves to judge by.
It looks like you have good control with it anyway Phyl..nice work! http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif Carol

Thanks, Carly. I did the mountain on my own, but to give credit where it is due--I picked up a tip from Larry on doing the trees. He showed how he painted them in red first and then overpainted in green. I just did the same thing but used a very dark blue instead of green.

Carol, I can't say that I really like it better than paper. It seems "synthetic". Paper is in some ways an art form in itself, and I kind of miss that with the Claybord. And sometimes the paint just lays on it too thickly for my taste instead of becoming part of it the way it does with paper. Also I'm not sure I'm going to like it framed without a mat. But I have two 11 x 14 pieces left to do so I'm planning to do those and then maybe do a couple on paper (to refresh my memory) before I decide whether or not to buy more Claybord. What is your feeling about it?

Flattered to receive credit here Phyllis..a fine effort on your part!

As I look at the mountain peak...the warm colors of the peak and sky projects a genuine cool feeling affect onto the trees/foreground and heightens the effect of that being in shadow!

good job...

Actually Phyllis.. you have expressed my own concerns with this clayboard. I missed the paper and am kind of sorry I went to the expense and bother of getting the fixative now..lol I have one small board left to use though. I did frame the leaves, in a gold colored, distressed look...fitting with the leaves, but miss the mat look. Think I will settle for the old glass, mat and paper.
