Does anyone know how, or even if it is possible to turn off an annoying "new" feature of WC? It's annoying and distracting to me anyway. I do not like how a little box pops up when I cursor over a thread title, giving me the first few sentences of the thread.
And is anyone else disapointed with the time column? I don't care if a post was made 30min ago....I liked the old "date" format..easier to know where I left off.....and where I want to begin again with my reading.
Thanks for help offered,
Catharine

I like the title box, sometimes it helps me determine if I'm going to open up that thread or not.
I have to say ditto to Catharine on the time thing. I too preferred the date/time not 3 hrs ago, etc.

Scott is looking into the mouseovers last I knew to see if they could be optional or not.
And I know he's still working on other tweaks to the system as well.
I personally think both changes are great, and look forward to discovering other new changes that he's made to try and make this a better place for us all.
:) :) :)

I feel the same way about the mouseovers, I hate them! I really, really hate them!!! Thanks for listening.
Scott did answer me previously on this, but when I saw this post I just thought I would go ahead and post again that I am still not liking the mouseovers, and I can't get used to them.

Actually, if the mouseover only popped up when you have the pointer over the title words, that would be great. I would like it and use it.
But the way it is now, it pops up if your pointer is anywhere in the box. SO you can't scroll with your pointer on a large part of the screen unless you don't mind the constant popups.
I swear, I am not one to complain normally, but those things are making me dizzy!
Respectfully,
Donna

Please keep in mind that some features that you "HATE" are features that others like. I personally love the mouseover feature and the new "times since last post" changes. Some of these features are incredibly helpful for mods, guides, and others who do a lot of monitoring of a forum's activity. Personally, I find the new time format makes it far easier for me to quickly judge the activity levels for the forum and certain threads and helps me prioritize when I have several forums to check.
Perhaps after things calm down and more serious issues are fixed, Scott will have time to make browsing/viewing even more customizable. Maybe not. I don't know. :)

I am not insensitive to other people liking the changes and I'm glad that it is a great help for the guides, moderators etc., but for the casual user, some of the changes are uncomfortable and make my WC experience less enjoyable.
The ability to have a "choice" would make these changes more tolerable...responses with the attitude....."here are the changes, like them or lump them", are of no help whatsoever and only serve to allienate your fellow WC'ers that have come in here for help..
I'm sure Scott is not done tweaking, adding, deleting things....and when all is said and done, most things might be for the better....but he can't know "what" needs to be changed unless he sees/reads membership opinions...whether we agree upon them or not.

On a selfish note i will have to say that the mouseovers are a TREMENDOUS help to moderators because they give you an indication as to what's going on without having to open the thread. If it's something that needs attention it can be handled far quicker and leave more time for other chores. But i do understand the position of those who aren't in need of this tool.
I may be able to help on the time thing though. :) If you'll run your cursor up to the box that says 'Display Modes' and click on the 'hybrid' button you will see a list of posts & times at the top of the threads from here on. Try it! :) I like it. If you don't like it you can always change it back but it's worth a try.

Since you directly refer to my post in your first sentence, I'm assuming that you are addressing me in this post. If so, I would like to point out that I never once said or had the attitude of ....."here are the changes, like them or lump them." And as far as alienation of fellow wc'ers go, I should point out that some of the "I hate this, take it away!" posts in this thread probably cause similar reactions in members who like the change. :) And no, that's not a statement directly regarding your post or anyone else's. I'm just pointing out that alienation works both ways.
No where did I suggest that you should not voice your opinion. :) However, I would recommend that everyone have a little patience and understand why some complaints probably won't get addressed for a little while. It is a huge site, a major undertaking, and only one person.

Whoo hoooo....thanks Scott  for the choice.....happy that my scrolling mouse isn't going crazy with the roll-over pop ups!
Cheryl....hi ya..thanks for the info, I will try that for awhile....I remember when many of us first came to WC...it was quite an adjustment from our "other" glass site, and were amazed and tickled at some of the "up to date" goodies Scott provided for us...and of course our wonderful "moderator" that was put in charge of us!!!! You do such a fine job....thanks.
Leann, do not assume anything....inserted spacing on that word, can say it all sometimes. I referred to your sentence about moderators etc, etc. as it was a good lead in...to the end of my sentence. I always try to respect anothers opinion and would even fight for their right to express it...even though it might not mesh with mine. For a moderator or guide to take an attitude of "like it or lump it", would be disasterous, publicly stated anyway.....no, it was another I was referring to. I'm sure that you probably do an excellent job for Scott & WC, and goodness knows..it is a thankless job at times....I'm not here to make it any harder on you or MY moderator..but read carefully next time please....and don't try to read between the lines.....I didn't write anything in there! lol

Scott, THANK YOU!
This is such a relief to me. (I am so surprised that it bothered me so, usually I am not aggravated by such things and get used to a change within 24 hours or so, but not this one!)
It really was making me dizzy. Then, when I would go on ebay and scroll, the mouseovers of course would not be there, and that threw me off again. I really appreciate that I can have these turned off here at WC.
I saw many comment here and in other WC threads that they really like this new mouseover feature, and I was surprised that not very many hated it like me!
Well, it is a mystery to me that any person with eyes can handle those annoying popups! lol
Enjoy your mouseovers everyone! I am going to forget they ever happened!
Thank you Scott! I love the new look of AN/WC! I think the new name sounds cool. I liked the old one also.
