Hi,
I managed to get here today also..have been absolutely buried alive with work and family problems. I think the platter is very nice. It looks like an antique to me with all the pits and irrigular glaze or surface marks. At one time I had a Ceramic studio and one of my favorite things was to underglaze and by doing so, handpaint original designs onto the surface of the "greenware" after firing to bisque a top coat of glaze would then be applied and the object refired. Thus you have a piece that is permanent and food safe. Are you using your items for display purposes? Sort of a faux finish on dinnerware....neat idea...

Pat

Thankyou for your praise paintinpat, I go to cermic classes every thursday night, there's only three women that go as the place is very small and in North yorkshire, very bleak in the middle of nowhere.
The plate is food safe and everything so if someone wanted to use this for food they could. I use it for decoration purposes mainly. It was something to do, and something that came out of my head as i needed something to paint.
Thankyou for your comment it was nice to hear from you

You've done very well with the platter. I'd probably still be doing ceramics if my friend had not moved away. She is the one who had the Kiln and everything. LOL

Hi Kildaire,

The platter is beautiful. I've never worked with ceramics but am always drawn to the handpainted designs I see when out and about. I agree with painting pat's comments, this reminds me of antique plates.

Many artists are isolated whether by design or geography. Part of the thrill of getting a computer for me, was to be able to "talk in real time" to my friends with instant messaging but that hasn't happened; seems that each party has to be on the same messenger service. LOL. So mostly communicate with emails.

Will you post some more of your ceramics? And do you work in other mediums?
