Happy New Year to ALL!!!

Cool bead, Jim!

Here's a little bead I did with a Beth Olson murrine I bought from her at Beadfest. Pulled the murrine out so it is tiny 3mm or so.

Have a great day, All! :-)

12-31-2003, 08:56 AM
Some day... I'll discover how to make murrini... very nice application! And Jim, I love those flower beads - keep em coming!

Once again trying to figure out which colors float and which get absorbed... playing with these wonderful attributes.

12-31-2003, 09:31 AM
Great beads this morning, had a better post written but then it didn't go through. Here's another set I mashed. Actually getting these up on ebay with the set from the other day.

Wow, great beads for this last day of 2003.

Don't have much time to comment, wish I had more. Have to leave for work early cause it has been snowing and people here in the Seattle don't know how to drive in the snow and it will be slow going.

Anyhoo.... I will pick on Anne, Stacylynne, Jill and Rebecca - love ya'lls beads.

Being in a hurry will not, of course, keep me from posting my beads. :D

First set is a pink set for Valentine's Day made of BE glass on my HH.

The second set is made of stain glass scrap (don't know what type) with my HH in blue, white, and faint purple and teal.

This is as close to confetti as I can come for New Years. I am going to ring in the New Year making beads. My dh is working so it is each man for himself around here.

I haven't posted a S & T in a long time. I do like to look though!

This may be "cheating" - I put these on ebay yesterday, but didn't get around to posting them, so here they are today.

The top bead is a hollow with a baby heart bead inside, and the large heart is a transparent red. Hope you like them...

Take care,

What a beautiful way to end the year. Incredibly beautiful work. I have fallen in love with the boro beads, but don't think it is something I will be getting into in this apartment!!! The little heart bead inside the hollow bead, has me blown away, WOW, I sure use that word a lot in this place. I am sorry I have to post these separately, I am going to try to post them all at once, but have a feeling that I will have the same success I did the last time. God Bless you all - Virginia
The first one is another of my futile attempts to make a OH WOW focal bead. My beads are like that quote that one of you has about life on your page. They are what happens while I am planning something else. Al-right, I know, a thousand more of them and I will get it down -

thoes are the beads I am hoping to get semetrical, so I can try to sell them on eBay, this is the not so Oh, WOW focal bead...guess I won't be tring that again for awhile - God Bless - Virginia

I think I am going to be making mousies a lot from now on. Also, today I am going to try to fry a fish!!! the blue one is an alabaster mousie, and the other a twistie mousie, I think I will make a twistie alabaster mousie today, I have four colors, I think a four color twistie alabster mousie is deffinitely in the cards. These mouses will be a lot easier once I hae my marble mold. God Bless - Virginia - the thread hog this morning

12-31-2003, 01:43 PM

12-31-2003, 04:17 PM
well, I am excited about my mousies. Ok, so my inner child get's out and runs the place, what am I gonna do, LOL This one is twisted alabaster - Virginia L.

12-31-2003, 04:24 PM
Here's my beads from last night - golden lentils. I can't seem to get a good pic of them though, made with the Osibin marver. the small ones are 14mm x 14mm. They remind me of the gold veined mirror tiles that were popular 30 years ago! LOL

Now off to see all the other jewels today!

12-31-2003, 04:37 PM
I'm trying to show one of my sets of beads for the first time so bear with me. It is some of Val's adventurine over silver over ivory with a little touch of intense black. Onalee

12-31-2003, 04:38 PM
What a wonderful show today!

Rebecca - How ever do you do those zig zag beads? I have been trying off and on to do them to no avail.

Amy - just beautiful beads. Just HOW do you clean the little heart bead inside the hollow - one of my students asked me that and I had to say I didn't know.

Faith - more beautiful pink beads - is that the EDP or enamel pink?

Koregon - such beautiful and soft pastels.

A Very Happy and Prosperous New Year for ALL of you!

12-31-2003, 04:46 PM
Ok, this is super scary! I'm kinda breaking out into a cold sweat... but don't worry, I'll be ok! I made a New Year's resolution to finally jump in the WC pool and post... after lurking for...(I'm so ashamed!)... well over a year! I'll post a proper introduction in the lobby soon. Just thought I'd dip my toes first here... Yes, I look at the showcase 2 or 3 times a day... I'm addicted! Well, here goes! It's nice to be here, finally... And just in time to say goodbye to 2003...

12-31-2003, 04:48 PM

Welcome to WC!

I was admiring this set on eBay yesterday! Good job!

12-31-2003, 04:54 PM
Oh, how cool! My first reply! I'm so excited!!!!! I have to go somewhere now and calm down, or I'll spend the entire day on WC... Thanks Alex, nice to meet you on WC! Of course, I know your gorgeous beads already, who doesn't? Mmm... lentils! :)

12-31-2003, 04:57 PM
Hi Julie and welcome to unlurking! I'm so glad you got your feet wet now. Can't wait to see more of your work.

12-31-2003, 05:17 PM
Minor correction to Mom's (Onalee) post. That is the green adventurine that I got from Heidi as a RAGBK. I passed some on. That stuff does some of the neatest things. I think you are going to have to pass on your source cuz it really is doing some neat things.

12-31-2003, 06:40 PM
Beautiful year end beads people! I thought I posted this, this morning, must have gotten interrupted!

Happy new year ya'll

12-31-2003, 07:29 PM
Here's to a Happy New Year...maybe I'll be last one up for this session??? Who knows....Have some red grapes for New years...

Boy this last post of the year is just wonderful. Such beauty and inspiration. Excuse me, Uglibeads, it must might be a good idea to change your name, you are doing false advertising. I LOVE your beautiful beads, I cannot wait to see the next set. As for myself, you all have to look at ANOTHER mousie. It looks like i am making mousies, but actually I am practicing for when I make marbles. I have to admit, I tried to do a marble this morning without the mold. Of course, I tried to make a BIG marble without the mold. As of now, I will have to live here forever, or buy a new rug, cause that marble burned thru my protective rug, to the other rug underneath. Not real bad, but I won't be doing that again. My shirt will never be the same. Anyway.......TA TA!!!ENCASED TWISTIE MOUSIE!!! God Bless you all - Virginia L.

wowie, great eye candy in this thread today!

took this fella out of the kiln this morning. the scanner doesn't work very well because this bead is fairly round and the depth of field is lousy. there are some faint flashes of dichro under the encasing, and the bead is about an inch in diameter.

12-31-2003, 09:13 PM
The last one of the year! Happy new years everyone!!

12-31-2003, 09:50 PM
Well, since you asked...:)

Saucy - To make the bead in a bead, I made a tiny horizontal-holed heart, and built a hollow bead around it. It's really not that hard. You should try it!

Maureen - To clean it? Hoo, boy. There has to be an easier way (I've heard that letting it soak in coca-cola works, but I haven't tried it yet), but I take the same size mandrel I used to make the bead, stick it in one end of the hollow, and use it to push against the heart inside. That gives me enough leverage to clean it with my diamond bit deal.

12-31-2003, 11:22 PM
I did make (kinda) lentil shape bead!! Happy New Year/Feliz Ano Nuevo/Akemasite Omedetooo!!!

12-31-2003, 11:22 PM
Happy New Year, everyone! Still a couple of hours left to keep this thread going... :)

Yesterday I was in a flowery sort of mood:

I am of the habit of trying to have a safe and sane New Years Eve, and all of a sudden I hear all this horrible noise coming from the workbench I do my glass on. I seems the imported European Cheese that I brought in for the evening has fermented, and these guys are going nuts, they are having a MOUSE PARTY!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Hug someone, quick!!! Nighty Night, Virginia L.
