Would someone show me the way properly make waves as in beach scenes?
I have not used templates much and would really love to see how you use them properly.
Thanks

No template needed. I freehand them. The same for waterfalls. I go in with white, transparent color, then top them off in white. You do them basically the same way that you would hand paint them. If you can find a Bob Ross book/video/episode he probably has the easiest steps to follow just duplicate the steps only with an airbrush.

Sorry, just now read your post.
Colorfast Here.
I wished I knew how to do them with templates as well. I still do them with frisket film. As soon as I can finish this latest project, I'll come back with something that might help.
I last visited your neck of the woods, (i.e.FL) I shot some pictures for a demo that had the ocean as the dominant vocas.
Maybe if I sent just the finished piece it might give you some inspiration, what da ya think?
Colorfast...
PS: Later.

Hi Cherri.
Colorfast Here:
This is the piece I was writing about earlier. It was a demo for the students years back. It was done with frisket instead of stencils. I usually work with frisket, but maybe this will help you try frisket and see if it makes you smile a bit,
I will be back later. I'm still working on that portrait. Far from being done.
Later,

Colorfast. That is a cool picture. I have some experience with frisket.
Yes, Freefall, I was talking about the freehand template to do the beach scenes. Getting videos and tapes around here is difficult if not impossible.
The thing that I needed it for has passed, so no big deal. However, it is just a brain thing. I just want to know how to do it. I am currently engrossed in several projects so no rush in answering.
Thanks to everyone for trying to help.

Thank you all, someone sent me a copy of the pages of the book that was mentioned and it had the stencils. I have not used them much lately.. :(
I also know that "I think" artool has a wave template. I never bought it. I just kept playing with it and finally got one that was passable. LOL

Allan;
I would be happy to forward them to you.. as soon as I am able to locate the pages.
Unfortunately, the original email is long gone. (computer hiccups and new computer). I did print it out so I just have to find it again and re scan it for you. ( I am glad you can not see what my reference files look like)
I will also find the other one I was talking about so you can have them both.

No rush.. I just would like to have em for future reference. I really appreciate it!
I know about trying to find old stuff! I have no problem finding the stuff I don't need, It's always the stuff that I REALLY REALLY need that I can't find.
My Mind is the one thing I seem to lose the most! It's not bad, sorta getting use to it! :D

I have a giant plastic storage container. Old calendars, books, magazines etc. I also have two accordian style file folders in there for lose pages like web print outs, cut outs, heck I save Greating cards if I liked the picture. Anyway, any and all of my reference is all in the giant plastic box. It might take me awhile to dig through it and find what I am looking for but it beats checking the whole house and since things aren't scattered all over the house in piles I don't feel bad about hording every good picture I see.

My file storage is a closet. I cut a "mail slot" near the top of the door and just slide things in. My accountant calls it the "Black Hole Filing Method" and refers to my openning the door to look for something as "The Big Bang."  Run for your lives!!!
Far from it but your making me sound like a know it all.
I agree with Allan, but I'm not quite sure "know it all" would be the right term. You must admit, you have an uncanny repertoire of knowledge, especially about some of the less common areas of ABing (such as painting aluminum :D ). I think sensei <sp> is more appropriate.
Or guru. YES! GURU!
Sitting cross-legged on a cushion on the floor.....
AB acolytes paying homage and petitioning for your wisdom.....
A golden glow of energy radiating from your body, powering all our AB compressors.....
OK, I'm going to shut-up and go hide in a corner before I get myself into too much trouble. :D

By no means was I intending to insult you  !
I'm just blown away by your knowledge (And envious)!
"Knowledge is power"
Devon summed it up nicely!

:cat: you guys make me feel so good. My down and dirty diverse knowledge comes from literally getting down and dirty and doing this kind of stuff. *yuck* and it comes from never wanting to grow up and never being able to figure out what I wanted to do so I'm still playing with everything. It's fun to play. When I do grow up and figure out what I want to do you will all be the first to know :cat:
