This is from a photo by Darrell, but I cropped the original.

Size is 7"h x 12"w and is done on Stonehenge paper...which is great as long as you don't need to lift out a color completely, like I did with the flower center.

This is also the first time that I used turpenoid on my underpainting. The turpenoid helps to smooth out the underpainting, takes out the wax and fills in the valleys in the paper. This gives you a richer tint to work on top of so there's less layering of color needed on top.

WOW! What a treat for me first thing in my morning, Arlene.
It is indescribably BEAUTIFUL! I read somewhere else that you had almost finished another c p, and I wondered what it was.
This has taken my breath away.

Lovely velvety petals, nice vibrant colors as well! Turpenoid...didn't that require a brush to do? Hmmm...brush...pigment...don't tell me that's painting that you're doing!!! :D ;) :D

WOW Arlene, this is my favorite of all the things you've done. The color is so vibrant, and I love the shadows on the petals, it's so 3D!!! You're right, you shouldn't paint if you can do stuff like this...
all is forgiven LOL... hmmmm now what would YOU say at this point, oh yeah... nice work now go sell it LOL!!! Hope to see more soon... B.

Lulu, it's always wonderful to know that a piece of our art has started someone's day off right...thank you.

No Ivy, it's just spreading the cp into the valleys...it's more like coloring cause i don't go out of the lines!

Thanks Teanne and Beau...that is the actual color as I received it from DD.

She dont paint.......ROFLMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Shhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ive got a secret!

BEAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!! I'll deny it...it's a retouched photo...a plot, yeah that's the ticket...a plot to discredit me! ;)

Thanks Animal...this was alot of fun to do and stonehenge is alot easier to work on than bristol...i highly recommend it and it even comes in black, teanne!

Thanks Bobby, I think i'm going to have prints (repros) made of this so I can sell them...cause believe me, cp doesn't pay. But i sure love doing it.

Most assuredly and definitely awesome! This is one of those works where a person walks up and says, "THAT'S colored pencil?! Wow...I didn't know that could be done with pencils!"

More, please....soon......quit reading and get to drawing! :D

I signed up for your cp course (I signed Vivi up to--she should be here on October 4th). So...you're going to teach us to do this, right?

Actually most of my time right now is taken up with my son's bar mitzvah...but I have managed to start a new cp drawing...totally different...a still life...but since each piece takes me between 40-50 hours to complete, it might be a while till you see it!

So...you're going to teach us to do this, right?

Well I'll show you the techniques to achieve this, but after that it's up to you! Looking forward to meeting Vivi and seeing you and your dad again...say hi for me.

Heard a rumor you've been seen working with a brush.......... not our CP moderator !!!!
By the way - where is Darryll??

No, not at all...it was a faked photo!

Darrell is afk (away from keyboard) this week...and I think he mentioned something about heading to the coast...not sure. Either that or he's working furiously on some new animal paintings!
