Well here is the final version for what its worth. Its a 36X40 oil on canvas. I used almost all the suggestions from previous post. The client is thrilled with the end result so I guess its done. The paint is still a bit wet in places and the painting is actually darker. I'll probably post this in oil paintings/portraiture/critique with better images when the sun comes out.:) I have around 36 hours in this one.

So, all that said, what do you think?

Sincerely,
Tess

Hi Tess,

I see a lot of Kahlo/Rivera in your style (only my subjective opinion) and I love that. The Drawing is great, the expression shows a lot of love between those two.
No wonder, they're thrilled with your work. The Background is bit hard to see online.

Have a nice day

Tess I love it. And looks like you didn't have a problem with hair on this one *S* Love the colors.

I have posted this in portraiture for a critique. Also there is links there for larger more detailed images for those who are interested along with a start to finish process in this work.

Thanks!
Tess

Luvy:

Thank you for your comment. This portrait is the "light and dark mass" thing. Just wanted to try it to see how it looks. Since these figures are so small it didn't turn out half bad.:)

I see a lot of Kahlo/Rivera in your style too. I seem to recall a very similar pose that Freda painted. Well done. Are you getting lots of money for it?

Dear TeAnne,

Thank you for your comment. Who is this Kahlo/Rivera? Got any links? You know I'm not smart on artist.

I'm making a little bit of money but hopefully I will get better. I did get more commissions from his referals so thats good.

What would you say is a fair price for this sort of thing? Also, I won't paint on a small canvas. I dont like anything smaller that 22X28. Does canvas size make any differance? How do you price this type work?

Cordially,
Tess

Dear TeAnne,

I'm still trying to figure out what my style actually is. What is an artist style?? Is it how they see things, how they paint things? what exactly is that?

How weird! I was born 5 days after her cremation. Am now 47. Here is a self portrait drawing that I enhanced on the computer. Think we look alike?

She does some pretty awesome stuff too! I'll take that compliment. Thank you very much!:D

Tess Yes! tis true, youe are she, she is you. What makes an artist? I think we all ask that question. Personally, I think it is the feelings inside. Beliefe in oneself (I still keep on self doubting) We have to hang in there for that magic moment to hit us. Then we will know. :D
BTW, try and get hold of "Kahlo" Andrea Kettenmann 1993 Published = Benedikt Taschen ISBN 3-8228-9636-5.
Or her Diary.

Ah yes!
I remember seeing this in the early stages. You have overcome each hurdle that I could see you reaching, and finished up with a superb painting that the family will treasure forever! Congratulations!
