HI,
I hope everyone is ready for Christmas tomorrow! I know I am. I am praying for lots of glass goodies, haha! I hope Santa makes it to my house. Does anyone know any glass colors that react with COAL?!?! HAHA Just kidding. I have been a good boy this year...most of the time. My vessel obsession has continued through today. They all have their little matching toppers. They are so fun to make. I can't wait to see what everyone else has to offer today!

Yumbo Aaron! I like the bluesy one on the left. I'm sure Santa is going to bring you lots of glassy toys! That would be so much fun to get a huge box of assorted glass to open on Christmas.

Since I haven't been able to play with fire & glass for almost a month I am so happy to be able to finally show something I'm going to be a bit of a thread hog :D

Aaron!!!! How are any of us supposed to follow that up!?!?!?!?! I mean, wow. Niiiiiice. When's Kervin going to write the book about you? :D
Briatha - I was wrong, Aaron can be followed up beautifully... I like the gold/ruby one the best. Gorgeous.

Ok, here's mine... An old tree (probably made right after I saw Kate Drew-Wilkensen's (sp?) tree beads for the first time.)
http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/24-Dec-2003/27058-111_1194.JPG
And.... I got sick of making sheep, so I made a wolf in sheep's clothing. I'm not happy with him but he's ferocious, all right! (Part of the glass broke off the rod and onto my arm for a small burn. PLUS my roommate came in and asked if I was making a rat... Wow. That could have been fatal.) None of this decreases the fact that he looks like a -fresh-from-the-drier Chihuaha. (NO I don't recommend that either!!!) No punny name, but he sure looks funny! Look! He even has a zipper!

If you guessed this is one of those beads that I took forever on so now I have to show off.... Yes, you're right.
Merry holidays to all!!!

Aaron!!! Stunning vessels!!! I like each one, but I think the first blue one is my favorite!! Hope Santa brings you something fun!

Faith! I'm so glad to see you posting again! Did you turn up the heat now? I hope you are doing better, and again, so glad you are back at the torch!

Nikki! "My-my-my-my-chalupa!" Just kidding! I think it is very wolf-like and not so much rat or chihuahua. Very cute zipper too!

Once the holiday mess is over, I will get to play with my toys again....I'm having trouble waiting though!

Happy Holidays everyone!!

I made some yesterday that I sorta like. Remember I'm still new at this! Can't ya tell :) I'm still trying to get the pictures just right too.

I experimented with rubino and silver, edp and rubino(still ceramic fibers on it..lol), and some other colors. What do you think?

Everyones beads are gorgeous as usual. My daily inspiration to get better! Thank you all for sharing.

Happy Holidays everyone :)

Alas, I have nothing to show today...but I have two questions to ask, if I could. First, everyone's beads are beautiful today. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Aaron's third vessel. I know you'll think I'm crazy, but when I look at it, I see an oil landscape painting of the Tuscan countryside (not that I've ever been there!), with the sky and clouds at the top, wavy trees on the right, and a river curving through and down from the left. It also sort of reminds me of a Maxfield Parrish painting. Simply too cool...

My first question is: How are those swirly effects done (like in all three vessels)? Are they frit? Enamels?

Second question: Lisa, are you using Corina's new bead stamper for your lentils? They're so perfectly shaped and smooth.

Wow! Everyone's doing such wonderful stuff...

I'm getting ready to wrap my mom's present but thought I'd throw it on the scanner bed and show it off before I give it away.

The beads were fired to ^10 (approx. 2350 degrees F) and are a wonderful brown stoneware. I did these with the monthly Ceramic beadmaker's challenge in mind. I'm loving working with all of this bare clay.

And here's a detail which shows off the center bead...

Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday.

Warmest and Brightest Blessings,

Wow, beautiful beads (and vessels!) everyone!!!

Allison, I love those Ocelot spots-- very, very cool.

This necklace is not for the faint hearted (or the weak necked :D )! It's my Solstice necklace- made on the eve of Solstice (actually, I thought the 21st *was* the Solstice until I read differently here on WC!).

and the torso that doesn't show up much in the big pic...

I'm off from work for two weeks for Christmas break... it's so great to have more time to torch and time to check out the show and tell threads...

Happy holidays, everyone!

I love these threads but some days they are so amazing ordinary words don't work!

Kandice both sets blew me away! My kinda beads. SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!! (I'll be watching ebay for these...don't let me down)

That solstice necklace? I want more photos. It is gallery quality. I love it.

Andi? what a knockout necklace. It would be my favorite! (I have so many, but this one would be my first choice everyday. Well, that and the solstice one.)

Mary, your flowers are very cute! Look perfect.

Great frits Allison. I've given up. Mine don't look nearly as nice.

Lisa...those lentils are spectacular!

I've forgotten all the others. Everything in the thread was great! Sorry.

Jo,
I am using an Italian lentil tool (borrowed sad to say, thanks Val!). I'm sure I'm not using it the "proper" way because I like to make fairly large beads (the dark bead pictured is 22X19X14). As a result I have to do a ton of flame polishing to get rid of the glass lip that forms. So..not a true lentil shape, I guess, with a sharp edge, but I like them!

All help is appreciated.

mom53,

Many of those luscious pinks come from frit being sold by our own Valorie Cox. You can see some of them in her store (she'll be restocking her store after Christmas). Click on this link and then on "glass supplies & beads" (Andale is goofy right now and I can't copy a link directly to her store that works):

Mom53,
Paula is right! I used a lavender opaque base with Val's fuschia and gold pink frit and encased in trans lavender. It makes fantastic color!! I am seeing the potential for some great Valentine Day beads!
