I wanted to see if this type of work would sell on ebay. This is my first attempt at fantasy art so it was more or less a test, What a pleasant surprise to see that it got a bid. :)

Mermaid on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=20158&item=3646456644)

I plan on putting more fantasy work up after the holidays to test the market a little more.

I've sold two mermaids online, one from ebay, the other from my home page. I don't find that fantasy sells all that well, but mermaids are also nudes and we all know that nudes sell :)

I forgot to ask - do you have a gallery on Elfwood?

We've got at least 3 months of wintry weather left.
:(

Do you pay to have your site on Elfwood, Eliza?

No, Elfwood is a free site. But it's only for fantasy and sci fi art. It started when Thomas was at uni and it was his project for his computer class. But let's just say it grew - considering that now, some 6 years later (almost 7) we have about 30,000 members.

If you want to know more, or are interested in joining, please pm me or email me.

Very cute mermaid!!! I've seen fairies and mermaids do very well on ebay. My mermaids always do well, but my market is a bit younger than the folks buying in the fantasy category!

This one is my fav....

Nice painting! I used to sell mermaids on ebay and they always sold well. I was up to a starting price of $40. I stopped selling them because I was working in cp and they took waaayyy too long to do. I may try one in acrylics though!

Here's my favorite, a Japanese mer:

Thanks everyone for the compliments. I'm really excited that not only did I sell the mermaid but I also have bids on 2 of my gargoyles. I'm glad I decided to take a chance on auctions the week of Christmas. :)

kiwicockatoo ... I remember your mermaid and thought it was beautiful. You do wonderful work.

ElizaLeahy ... no, I haven't heard of Elfwood but I will check it out after the holidays. Thanks :)
