I am pretty happy with this design, I feel I found a unique way to express the sea turtle that is very functional as a pendant. I haven't seen anything similar to them, which is always a plus. The first few I made were around 1 1/2 inch long, I don't usually makes things much bigger than this because I do work on a small torch for boro, the bead burner. I wish I could upgrade right now but it will probably be at least 6 months before I get more flame

Anyway so the other night I decided to make some bigger turtles, kinda push my limits, how big is too big? Then there is the fact that they took twice as long to make!!! I doubt I will be selling them for twice as much :crying: but I guess there is a trade off somewhere??

These both are around 2 1/8 inch long by 1 1/2 inch wide.

Then the last shot is a comparison with a smaller turtle.

Lluvia:

Pretty cool turtles. I really like the one with the yellow and pink feet/fins (what do you call a turtle appendage?)

Lluvia - Now that I have my seahorse on it's way I need one of those turtles. I've decided that I'm finally going to start collecting some of my favorite artist's beads. You are definitely on the list. :D

BTW - I LOVE LOVE LOVE the one with yellow in the fins. I'm going to get DH now so I can show him...OH POOKIE!

Nice turtles, I know what you mean, everything I make I think it should be bigger. So what kind of glass are you using? Northstar?

Those are great turtles. I like how they hang.

Thanks everyone!

I used both glass alchemy and northstar in these. The yellow violet fin one is silver strike 5, a gentle warming in the flame brought out the nice pink violet color. Its shell is done with amazon night and northstar yellow. The other one is amazon night fins with triple passion and amazon jewel shell pattern.

The yellow violet one is going to be a gift to my boyfriend's mother, I hope she likes it! She already has a sunflower necklace I made for her birthday.

Are these smaller turkles going up on eBay? :D

Edit: I couldn't get both smaller turkles up. I like the "dots" effect as well on the pic that won't show up here . . . heh, heh
