Ok, so I've FINALLY gotten the photos processed taken with my new lens.

The lens in question is a Sigma 24-70mm. Cheap, but the reviews say surprisingly good quality.

Well. The actual prints are good - but I can't say much about the scanner I used ;) Its a cheapo - and the quality shows.

But! I'm happy with the new lens - come christmas day mike and I are gonna go to the Portland Head Light on Cape Elizabeth and get some more shots :)

glad you all like the desaturated ones - I much prefer the softer colors than in your face colors - of course, it really depends on what the subject matter is - landscapes imo always look better with softer colors :)

i'm quite partial to the edited ones :) but i was surprised at the color renditions of the lens - and the sharpness.

The two originals are great photos with good colour and DOF,having said that I think the blurring and desaturation work really well.

I can't bring anything new to this thread, so must say ditto to what everyone else said before I got here! I can't decide which version are my favorites because they each have their own artistic qualities. Nice work Lisa!

Those are really nice Lisa... I love what you did in Photoshop!

Yes, the lens does look sharp with good contrast. Can't wait to see what you get with it in Portland.
