This is my first "mini" it's about 4 x 3 1/2. I liked it better before I put in the background but thought it might not work. Any suggestions?

I like the style of this, great shadows & pose, and just the right amount of detail in the figure. Re the background, perhaps just a little more green (brighter and/or darker for a little bit of detail)? Would like to perhaps see a butterfly, maybe in the upper right quadrant in the direction his head is turned, as though he's focused on what he's sneaking up on.

I love this composition , great tension, and a very mature style that says a lot with "apparently" (possibly deceptive- but convincing 100%) little effort - sublime.

what subtlety and delicacy! from my monitor i see that you have yellows, peaches and greens going there and it works very well. maybe you can just darken it a bit to the left? this is beautiful as it is. can't wait to see the finished painting!

I like it very much color and composition wise.

might put some light blue or brown in the horizontal along the top

Wonderfully complicated pose to attempt, and you have pulled it off beautifully.
This makes me want to be a child again, off on some adventure in the park. It brings back the freedom and solitude of my youth.
