I was inspired by Ivy's rose in pencil to try one in c pencil.
Here is the result - 8 days and no housework later - lol!
I got lost in that 'zone' thingee that Erin talked about in her thread:)
I think I'm done, but feel free to tell me that I'm not:)
btw anyone know what to do with all the pencil shavings??? Can't bear to throw them away!

Meant to say that the colours of the original are much 'richer' than the scanned image indicates.

oooohhhh Lulu, this is beautiful....welcome to the zone LOL! I can only fantasize about doing such beautiful coloured pencil drawings. You have inspired me to get them back out again, maybe I'll try something this week... I'm sure my house will survive a week without beeing clean LOL :D

Have I mentioned how gorgeous this is?????

By the way, how did you do th lines in the leaves... with just the pencil or scratch them out or with an impressed line??

Cool Lulu! I especially like the colours you have used. What paper did you draw this on? I haven`t drawn in Coloured pencils for about 4 or 5 months.:( :D

Your Rose is beautiful.
It's sweet perfume tantalizes my sences.

I took a paper making workshop some time ago and the instructor added her coloured pencil shavings to her slurry.
Produced an interesting effect.

Wow Lulu, this is simply gorgeous! Do you know the name of the rose--Peace maybe? Would also like to know what paper you used.

Let's see, 8 days of drawing, one day catchup housework--yes I can live with that! (if you get those results!)

I can almost reach out and touch the velvety petals and smell the fragrance!

I think this was way more important than housework!

I thought I was seeing things this morning when I logged on and went to the drawing forum. My thread said 'Moved' and I thought - where too???? Yay! Our own c pencil forum!!!!

Thankyou everyone for your comments.:)
I did the veins on the leaves first by impressing with a white pencil and I used Canson Mi-Teintes white paper. I was amazed at how tough and forgiving it is!

So we're all agreed - housework sux, art rules!!! :D:D:D

Hi Wendee, thanks for your comments.:)
I used my new prismacolour pencils, which I was sent from the States, (can't buy them here) and Canson Mi-Tientes paper. Darrell sent me some Stonehenge which apparently is best for c pencils but I was too scared to use it lol! :D Maybe next time!

Lulu:

I go away on holiday for a few days and look what happened!!! A beautiful rose! And our own CP forum! WOW to both!!! I think the colors come thru here as very rich and velvety, I can only imagine it in person! This is great! And I agree that CP is much more important than housework :D :D :D

Right on Lulu. You go girl!!
This is VERY romantic, with the glowing colors, the velvety petals.
I'd like to see some of the warm colors reflecting on the leaves, to unite and to splurge them with rich full bodied shadows. (the two on the right are same tone as of yet).
Beautiful work! You've come a longer way in just this past month or two than in your past 4 years of classes! Kudos!

Lulu

Ivy, thanks:) Hope you had a great weekend away - missed you!

Sandi, thanks too for your comments :) and also for the suggestion re the leaves.
btw I wish I had had 4 years of classes, I had 6 weeks (2hrs a day 1 day a week) 4 years ago, and then the odd day since then.
But now I've had a year of wetc :D and I find it a great place of learning, inspiration and encouragement.

opps! Sorry. I misunderstood your sentence from before:

"Three years ago I began a painting and drawing class with an artist, who was holding classes in our local town.
Over those years we have become close friends ..." (taken from your "Just wanting to share something lovely" thread from awhile back).

Doesn't matter. In any case, your art has greatly improved as of late. Kudos!

Well girls just let me know your wish list. I am going to Pearl Paint next week to get some more colors as I will not rest till I have them all! The mouse with the most colors wins. Humm that gets the mind going I off to do a rainbow mouse, look for a new tinny head.
I have never worked in cp before and find that lately I have done some of my best work with them and the set up and clean up is so so easy.

PS: John took my parrot to IBM corporate headquarters to show it off today.
PPSS: He fixes the machines the big shots break so don't think we own the money truck : ) Humm could be one of the money guys would like to buy a print.
