Hi all, here is your prodigal friend :D
We went to a winery today and I got some neat pics. I also saw this plant, it was gorgeous but I have no idea what it is.

I'm no plant expert...but this looks an a lot like an artichoke, though I've never seen one, so not sure if this is how they grow?

Cool looking plant and I LOVE artichokes.

My guess is that it is an artichoke...
they are part of the thistle family.... :-)

(((((Te Anne))))) Come back here! :D

Looks like an artichoke, yes. Ants love artichokes. Me too!

The reason you artichoke lovers don't quite recognize these is because this is what artichokes look like when they've been allowed to go to bloom. They are, indeed, a member of the thistle family, which is really easy to see when they get to this stage. So the question really is, TeAnne, how come these weren't eaten? :D

Artichokes and mayo.........one of my favorite treats. Are there other ways to eat them? I've heard of pickled, but never tried them that way.

I like them with melted butter, too, and they're great grilled on the barbeque with a spice rub!

Good morning everyone :)
Thanks for the replies. So an Artichokes it must be.
They were at the back of the winery near the grapevines, looks like they are let to grow wild. I wonder if it's to do with companion planting.

Thanks all, I have to go food shopping now, need to feed the starving artist. lol We havn't shopped for 2 weeks.
Cya soon :D

Allof them & I'm glad you are having fun painting! You know the Prodigal is always welcomed with open arms! :D
