My mother-in-law's crazy cat.
Excuse the "seam". The original is too big for one scan, so I tried to scan twice and paste together. Not as easy as it sounds. . .

Lovely! I like the pose and those eyes. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

You have portrayed the inquisitive nature of the cat well, I can just imagine him knocking over the flowers in front of him and then scampering off.

I feel that the tulips/flowers behind him look as if they are growing out of his head or his b..., perhaps a slight change in composition of the picture would help.

Thanks for sharing it with us.

Hey Nick,
He is charming...I took the liberty of making some revisions...hope you don't mind.
1. I got rid of the flowers growing out of his head
2. Crop Queen strikes again!
3. I added more shading on the cat, to bring out the fur and define the cat more.
4. I added darks in the flower and the leaf to define it more.
5. I added stems to the vase and the shadow of the cat behind the vase.
6. I shaded the floor a bit more
7. And last I added more dark and highlights in the eyes.

Your cat is adorable... and with the suggested changes from Arlene, think you will be really happy with this one. Keep painting and keep posting...you are on your way! http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

Thanks, everyone, for your comments and suggestions. This was a bit of an experiment as I took the photo of Ollie on the table with all sorts of stuff behind him (tulip vase, coffee maker, another vase of flowers) and eliminated everything except what I found interesting.

KaTee: Yes, upon looking at him through your eyes, he DOES look like he has flowers growing out of his bum! Actually, I didn't bother painting in the vase that shows in the photo right behind him. Or maybe he's just a very unique cat! http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Arlene: I don't have any problems with you "Photoshopping" my work; it helps to get as many different perspectives as possible. Appreciate the input! I noticed that, you too, desired a little more detail in his eyes. Have you been talking to my wife? http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/wink.gif

Carol: Thanks for your kind words and friendship. This is what makes WetCanvas such a great resource!
