Hands are so important to us as humans and so when draw them we tend to draw what we know about them....we don't trust our eyes...and not what we actually see. I recommend checking out Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards and just practice practice practice. You'll find that quite suddenly you'll be able to draw them. Make it your mission!

No doubt you have heard the advice of drawing the hand and fingers as tapered cylinders. The drawings above indicate this. Also, my intention in these drawings was to indicate the sides of everything. If these work, then you know something about the top, bottom and sides of each portion of the hand.

On my website I have a series of Drawing Excercises based on computer generated figures, which includes hands seen in complete rotation from three different perspectives. I just drew these over and over again until I had "figured out" a series of tasks to achieve in each drawing. Here are a couple I've gotten from instructors:

The digits of each finger taper to an end. They are cylinders, yes but tapered cylinders as well.

Indicate the fact that one digit is in front of another by the overlapping lines at the edges. The middle drawing forefinger suggests this
