Hi everyone,
I just put up a new gallery for the lighthouses that I did after my Michigan trip. Thought I'd post the link, instead of all the pieces.

Gis.... How in the world did you get all those done so fast? They are really nice - you should have some quick sales there! http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

Wow Gis! Beautiful job! They are all so unique! Boy, your arm must be really tired getting all those done so fast!

How many hours did it take you to complete the series??

Gisela,

These are very cool ! Did you get to see all of these lighthouses ? Did you paint any of them on site/outside ? I didn't realize that Michigan and Ohio had so many lighthouses !

Those are beautiful, Gis! There seems to be a resurgence in lighthouse appreciation over the past few years. I recently met a man that makes lighthouse bird houses. Some he does with stone and they are unbelievably intricate. The lighthouse is also the symbol for an online support group called Harbor of Refuge. I just love them. You did a wonderful job on this series.

Wow--you've been busy! I thought you were sick in bed! My daughter collects lighthouses and she's been dropping a lot of hints--not too subtle, either--that I should paint one for her family room. Maybe I should just send her to you!

They're beautiful, and I see you've been more productive than me...sighhhhhhhhh!

Did you get to see all of these lighthouses?

Yes, these were from 4 different trips.

Did you paint any of them on site/outside?

The Grand Traverse light paintings were done on site. I camped there for 5 days.

I didn't realize that Michigan and Ohio had so many lighthouses !

This is nothing!! Michigan alone has over 100 lighthouses. Treacherous water here in these sweetwater seas!

How many hours did it take you to complete the series??

This is about three weeks worth--in the same time I also did 8 more non-lighthouse watercolors.

I thought you were sick in bed!

This is what I finished before the bug hit me...then I spent a week in bed before I was able to mat and frame them. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/frown.gif

You want some company??? I'll bring my own paints..

Sandi, I would love to paint with you!!!!

Sketches or Photos ?

I used a lot of both Billy. Some photos I took 12 years apart. The sketches were all from my honeymoon (3 years ago) and the September trip.

Thanks everyone, for the comments. I have to go back to bed now--of course, I overdid it at my opening and now hubby is threatening to put me in the hospital, so I'll actually rest and get over this damn infection! http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/frown.gif I miss you guys. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif
