My camera is a Minolta Maxxum 7....Now I'm getting to understand something about auto-exposure-lock less and less, the more I read about exposure. So here goes my point........
If I set my camera to "manual" then meter on something like an 18% gray card adjust so that the exposure meter reads this as a proper exposure, set the AEL and re-compose.Will this give me an accurate exposure, regardless of what my meter then reads??

ANY help is appreciated...............Tom

In theory, yes it should. But, nothing ever goes as planned. :) Do you know about bracketing yet?

Yes, I've tried bracketing quite a few times, and was just trying to understand AEL,as the manual doesn't do much if anything to explain it, (or any other functions.)
Anyway....thanks for the help.
