View Full Version : First necklace!

I filially took the plunge and tried to make myself a necklace for my DH'd Christmas party. I made some great snowflake beads and wanted a way to wear them. This took me 5 hours, and lots of false starts, but I am really proud of my first try! I have several extra flakes, so I am going to try again, making a few "improvements". It was actually fun to make, and I am ready to try again!

Sorry for the terrible picture, the snow is gone from my photo area, but now I need the rain to stop!

Stunning snowflakes and beautiful necklace. I wouldn't change a thing. Would the extra snowflakes be too big for earrings?

Have fun at the party! Beth

The snowflakes are pretty big - about 1 1/2" point to point. I was thinking about a bracelet, but I am afraid they may be a little too fragile to be banging around on my wrist. They are a lot of fun to make, I may have a whole blizzard by the time winter's over!

What a beautiful necklace! I would make smaller snowflakes for some earrings and leave that alone!

Thanks for all your kind words, the finished pieces I droll over here were a big inspiration! Since the first one went well, I am anxious to try something else.....greens maybe.....golds.......must make Christmas present first!!!

WOW, Laura, what a show-stopper! I love snowflakes!
Your necklace design is really wonderful. Stringing jewelry is not as easy as it might seem!

That's one great necklace by any standards! It's your first? *thud*

WAY to go. It's perfect, don't change it!

Your snowflakes are really cute! I do like the design of the necklace.

I too agree with Lenda. I would try to make some mini-snowflakes for earrings. Try making 2 snowflakes on 1 mandrel to get the size as close as possible.

That is a PHENOMENAL first necklace. You definitely have a talent for both beadmaking and stringing. Wear that baby proudly!!!

(You should see my first necklace.... ugh.)

Gorgeous work!

Wow!! I love your snowflakes. The necklace looks perfect to me. I love snowflakes. I also agree with Lenda--a lovely set of mini-snowflake earrings would be perfect.
