View Full Version : Your own Christmas card?

I thought I'd start a thread so that anyone who has designed their own Christmas card this year, can display their design here.

It will also double as a place where we can exchange festive greetings.

I'll start the ball rolling...

I thought we'd keep the design simple this year, with the outline of Edinburgh castle, eroded down from a colour photograph...
We've printed them on white textured paper to give an overall feeling of snow.

I would like to wish all my many new friends here at WC, a very merry Christmas
and a happy, peaceful, healthy and creative New Year!

Very nice card, Howard. This year I am sending out the remains of the cards I have accumulated over the years. Perhaps next year I will send out one of my own creation.

I will join you, though, in wishing all WC'ers the Merriest of the Season and the warmest Best Wishes for a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.

Ray

I'm in my Scrooge mode this year and didn't make my own card.
But have in the past and I'll share one that I did a few years ago.
Looking at it now, it looks a lot like my new kitten, when he grows up that is....

Happy Holidays to all my WC friends and may the New Year bring us all Good Fortune and Peace.

We did our own cards for the first time. We looked at the price of bought cards, then at the price of making our own ..... no contest, really.

Ten different images ( http://devbrain.com/misc/cc ), five different card designs ( http://www.photographersedge.com ) and a little time to assemble the parts.

Wow, there's some great looking cards here, almost too embarrassed to post mine.
Howard, that's a lovely understated, elegant design, anyone would be delighted to receive it.
Ray, I usually do that too, but this year there weren't any left:D
Maria, That card is so good I'd just keep printing it up year after year, and you're right, it does look like Dusty.
Dave, your photo's are superb, make a great set (and personally I'd want one of each:D )
Well our cards divide into three groups, hand made for very close family, which I don't have time to scan in, sorry. One that's a bit of fun for our friends, and one which covers everyone else.
Here's the one for our friends. (it's a sculpture done by a friend of ours which we've dressed up)
http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/11-Dec-2003/23081-SHARK.gif
And the one for everyone else

Hoping the holidays bring everyone everything they could possibly want and then some more!
Kate.

Maria, thank you for showing your true watercolor self for the holidays!!!!
This is wonderful, IMHO.

When Dusty grows up . . . weeeelll, our version of Dusty is 3 now and hasn't grown up yet, for which I'm sooooooooo grateful. May Dusty take his time, too!

I'd like him to be in on this year's holiday card but so far he doesn't cooperate.

What a great bunch of cards! We don't do very many any more, and I've not got our regular one done yet, but here's one that's going to an appreciative few:

Veronica - Very different and very funny! :p

Drapier - I love that card... I like the accidental (?) 'Flee' cut-off advert in the background, as that is what the cab is apparently doing. ;)

Kate - Very funny whale and snowman!

Maria - Wonderful card... that looks a very comfortable window sill. I love the playfullness you've managed to create.

These are all great... keep 'em coming folks!

Here's one I made which is a scan of a cp painting I did of a male cardinal. It's been a really popular painting among my friends, family and the others I've shown it to. I donated a matted and framed print of it to an auction at my church and got lots of favorable reaction to it, and a number of people are getting matted and framed prints of it at Christmas. It's proven quite popular, so I'm happy to be able to make my own print/reproductions at home and mat and frame them myself!

What a talented bunch of people we have here in this forum. Such wonderful cards.

I received one from my brother that I just had to share with you all.

You may remember my brother, I've spoken of him before. He's the Mountain Man in the family. He was born in the wrong century and should have lived during the time of the mountain men. He goes to rondevous(sp?) and does re-enactments of that period.

He told me that he sent this card to Pres. Bush also to see if the Pres. would respond with a card from his house.

:D :D :D

There are some absolutely super cards amongst this year's festive offerings. Well Done Everybody. I'm sure all your families and friends will be delighted to get them.

Joy and I have made ours again this year. Just basically two designs with the same inner. Here's mine:

and its festive message which is heartily wished for each and everyone of you.

May I echo Rob's messabge for a marvellous Christmas Holiday to all our friends on WC. I love all the cards above but I must admit to having a real chuckle at your Vegitarian Christmas Card, Veronica. Our SIL (Mindful) and his family will really appreciate that one as they are all vegetarian.

Here's my card for this year which any of you who had this year's WC Calendar will obviously recognise as the December Photo.

I didn't print Christmas cards this year, but for the first time since our daughter's first Christmas, I had a photographer friend of mine come to the studio to take our family picture, pets included! So Merry Christmas from the Schwartz Family.....Nate, Maryjane, Kyle, Brenna, Reggie (the dog), Elvis (my parrot), and Taz (Brenna's chinchilla).

MJ what at great looking family. The whole family including Elvis the green parrot! Have we seen his portrait here on WC? Elvis is my cat BTW. Great name for a flamboyant pet.

I agree with Margie, a great looking family! You don't look nearly old enough to be an Elvis fan!:)

We went to a Bobby Vee Concert last night. It was like being a teenager again!:D Ohhh to know then what I know now!:D

No, I don't think I'd posted this before.

Yes, Elvis makes a great pet name......of course, I doubt that YOUR Elvis says "Elvis has left the building!" at 7:00 in the morning. :D

I'm more than old enough, Rich....but thank you anyway, silly man. Bobby Vee? I'll bet that was fun!

Margie L
12-17-2003, 03:18 PM
LOL MJ and Rich!
No my "Elvis" doesn't say 'Elvis has left the building.' He just wakes me up by dumping something breakable off my dresser so I can make him leave the building, usually around 3:00 AM.

Rich--Years ago when Bobby Vee was still a hunk he was appearing in one of our local bars. I still have the personalized LP signed to Margie on her birthday. (Won't say which one though. ) He still is a fun entertainer. Bet you had a great time.

Rich
12-17-2003, 03:30 PM
That's neat about the LP. Hang on to it! He has two of his son's touring with him now. One plays drums and the other is a knockout bass fiddle player. They played nearly 2 hours straight. A great time. They live in your part of the country Margie. Probably Northern Minn. He is from the Fargo-Moorehead area.

Well, Mary Jane, I am thinking when he first started in the late 50's and I know you aren't that old! I keep kicking my self for not going to his last concert...had the chance...of course we didn't know it was going to be his last. That's why I try to make it a point to see all the aging rockers when I can.

Oh, Rich....what a kind and dear man you are! :p Born in '56....which means I well remember all of his hits. Of course, I heard some of them AFTER they were originally hit records...but I've always loved "The Night Has A Thousand Eyes".
