Hey there everybody! I'm new here, but to quote everybody else.. it really does seem to be a great community. I am a student in california and have recently decided that i want to attend an art school. Only problem is that i had always planned on attendind a UC... so i don't know much about art schools. :confused: Can anybody reccomend some good schools and has any body heard of the art institutes? Do they have any credability? Hope to hear from some of you soon!:D

well let me be the first to say welcome. umm geez, there has been several threads about art schools, can't recall them all but that hasn't really pretained to me either and i've spent the last 8 hours on my feet handing out whoppers in drive-thru (i hate my job) so i'm a tad tired. i'm sure one of the other regulars on this channel will help ya find what ya need, got alot of truly helpful people around here. but on the bright side you found one of the best places to get some encouragement and help whenever you need it. i wish i could help ya with art schools in cali but i haven't lived there since i was a little girl (oh the joys of being a military brat) but i did think bobby posted a link that helps you find schools in your area, it is the third sticky (whatever that means). hope that helps some, sorry i'm not too helpful but i'm tired and in the middle of finals week:mad:. hope i helped a little if not sorry.

Hey jgz316! Im new here too, relatively speaking, but as a fellow Californian (is that a word?) I can hopefully help you out. Where are you going to school right now? I know theres two or three good art schools in San Francisco, but theyre very expensive.

I go to Sonoma State right now and I love it. The only problem here that you hopefully wont run into at a private school is that our wonderful state government has cut so much money out of education that its almost impossible to get any classes. Espeically art classes since everyone takes them as electives thinking theyll be fun.

If you want to go to a UC I dont really know what to tell you. The only one I know anything about is UCLA but I think its almost impossible to get in there now.

My cousin went to one of the Art Institutes and he said theyre awful. Didnt really go into too much detail, though, but from what I understand theyre basically just two year graphic design schools. Nothing wrong with that, I guess, if you want to be a graphic designer, but if youre more into fine art youd probably be disappointed.
