I am learning to watercolor paint as a project for my Master's program in Educational Technology. For this project, we are to learn something we don't know how to do and document how we learned it. As part of this project I am exploring how an online community can facilitate my learning. I will be posting questions to the bulletin board as needed and would appreciate your candid feedback. Currently, as I am just beginning, I would appreciate direction as to available online tutorials or informative web sites for beginners.

http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/biggrin.gif The answer to all your problems are solved by going to the front page of WetCanvas and clicking on "Art School on Line". http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Look for the special section on watercolor. There are tons of lessons there and I know you will have a good time.

Have a good time exploring. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

This is probably the best all-around website on the subject; the people who post here are very helpful.

Another favorite of mine (no on-line discussion, but a lot of good information) is handprint.com. He hasn't finished the Techniques section yet, but he's done pretty extensive testing of paints, brushes, and papers, if that would help you.

Good luck,
Victoria

another site that you might like to check out is http://www.worldofwatercolor.com
They also have some resources for learning online but I don't think you will find the kind of forum interaction on any site like we have here at WetCanvas.

Be sure and post your painting...for critique and feedback too. We have some wonderful teachers here at wetcanvas....and its like having a personal hotline to one of them!

I found the Artschool Online, thanks for the direction. There are some great lessons for beginners. I hope I will be brave enough to post my watercolor attempts. I'm checking out the other web sites as well. Thanks for help, this seems to be a great community. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif
