No artist can deny the rush that comes from having their first public art exhibition. This is mine! The artwork is located in a performing arts theatre in downtown Salt Lake City. I am one of 2 artists in the show which lasts for 2 ˝ months. It started in October and the exhibition comes down in another week. I have eight pieces on display. Many of these works will be familiar to some of you as I have posted them on WC! in the past. Thanks for looking.

Going inside ...
Christmas wreaths. It kinda struck me as a little ironic – Here it is Christmas Season, and there are these wreaths, and here is my art – Abstract, emotional, and very un-christmasy. :P It seems to me someone has to be chompin at the bit to take my work down and put up something a little more cheery by next week. :D

Here are the names of the 2 artists on the wall and our artwork below them. Can you guess which on is mine?

Turn myself around and look out the big windows. People walking outside can see the art inside.

couple of closeups of the frames: I love this – it is a deep cherry wood and unless you get close, it looks black.

The watering hole: A painting strategically placed close (but not too close) to the water fountain. There’s no escaping viewing my art. Muah ha ha.

A view of the side of the building and the big windows from the street. There is a lot of glare, but if you squint, you may be able to make out some of my artwork up on the balcony.

how did you come across this?
There was a small article (1 paragraph) in the arts section of the newspaper with a "call for entry" by Rose Wagner. It directed me to a website. I went to the website. They had a 3 page form that I had to fill out along with 10 slides of artwork. I submitted. They called me!
I just read about another "call for entry" in the newspaper for a different place. Thinking about it... :D

The art venue is terrific. I hope you sell all your work and get more showings. It's great to see someone getting their work displayed in such a nice setting, although you were right about some of the work being 'not so christmas like' lol. I keep harking back to the one red splatter work, the perfect christmas gift. ;)
Congrats

Very nice and Congratulations!
I was supposed to do my 1st 1-woman show in December but due to some things at the gallery, it's been switched to May... (better for me anyways!)
Did you have any kind of catalogue of your works? or just a price listing?
I'm thinking of producing a small catalogue for mine (hand-made books with photographic copies of my work as well as digital manips and prints). Might be a tad ambitious, but maybe I can get something cool enought that people will buy it even if they don't buy the actual originals. (I plan to make it a limited edition "book" and completely hand constructed and printed.
