Since I usually post finished work, I thought it might be fun (and only fair) to post some of my life drawings. These were done on newsprint pads, with charcoal or pencil or conte. The originals are large, (the pad is a 24"x36") but I had to shoot some slides of preliminary drawings fo a portfolio revue so I have a few available to scan now. This one was probably about a 5-10 minute pose, a few months ago.

nice flattening of the buttocks, sculpting of the arm and volume of the hair. It's an interesting pose with pleasing lines going back and forth with the back then with her front pressed to her legs and the line of the back of her legs and seat. Nice horizontals and verticals.

WOnderful energy and expression! I love the quickness and clarity in shadow derived from LOOKING! A very dramatic mark you have!

Yes, I love these gesture/ 2 minute excersizes. It's as though your brain dosen't have time to get in the way of the drawing.

Yes! Thats just it! I love putting down marks that have pure energy. What better way thann two minute poses, or a moving model.
