Have you tried to "paint only from your sketches"?

Hi, I like to paint en plein aire, but there are just times I could only do a quick sketch in pencil, with minimal details and lots of writing for future reference.
Then I would come home and try to paint from them, the results haven't been satisfying. I know Van Gogh painted from sketches a lot, I dont know if anybody else does this or did.
Here are a couple ones I've done, they are far from being realsitic, but I think it was intersting to give up all other references and only depend on the simple pencil sketch and my brain.
Feel free to comment on mine and if you have yours please post them too!

I'm not sure I understand what you mean.

I paint from my sketches, but I use references to create the sketches...

I try only to paint from my sketches- It is freeing and exciting and I feel way more inventive.Photographs stifle and inhibit my oils- although I love to do watercolors from photos(I need to for my business.. so I guess I do both!

Sorry- that web site is really only for my business- and I see it needs work- I posted a bunch of paintings in the gallery forum of this website and also one on the critique forum- all oils from sketches.Hope you can find them..
