I love Christmas. Every year I can't wait until Thanksgiving is over so I can start to decorate. Yes, I'm one of "those" people. I thought I would share some of my AB uses through the holidays and I would love to hear yours.

Windows!!!!! why pay for window clings and artificial snow when you have an airbrush. I pick up a couple of Christmas stencils at the craft stores and airbrush my windows. If I want snow (I don't, I have plenty of the real stuff already on my sills) I paint them too. So far I have the glass of my entertainment center done in snow flakes and Christmas teddy bears. Acrylic paint comes off very easily from the window after the holiday, easier than the artifical snow does so I have no worries.

Quick and inexpensive gifts. My husband has a small business and wanted gifts to give out to those who count throughout the year as a way of saying thank you. I ordered a couple dozen pairs of work gloves with a plain cloth cuff. My husband is known for the wolves that I paint so I will be doing a simple howling wolf silouette design on them. It's not a bad way for me to advertise either. As soon as the gloves come in and I get one done I will post them.

I thought about doing some mouse pads but I don't have time.

Last is how I store my paintings through the holidays. A couple of them always have to come down because of where I place my tree. I put them in a suit-case that is stored flat. This way nothing bad ever happens to them.

Hi Penny;

I thought of trying the decorating too using the airbrush. Your idea of the windows is cool.

Another artist I know is going to do Christmas stockings by airbrushing names on them and giving them as gifts. I bought some, but have not had a chance to try it out. I wanted to take it a bit further and actually paint something that the person likes on the stocking.

So many ideas, so little time.

LOL, "so many ideas so little time" You just summed up my life.

I have been meaning to do this so I guess I will get off of my arse and do it.

I Penny do solomly swear to create a cute but simple christmas design tonight that all who are interested can print off and create a stencil with.

Mouse pads, windows, stockings, sweatshirts etc. IMO AB for stencils is quicker and easier than stenciling. I use my eclipse for this and fill my jars with the basic colors I use and one for the cleaning solution. I just pop one jar off, spray the cleaner through and pop on the next one.

Anyone else care to do the same?

Yes, please post. It never crossed my mind to AB decorations. If I didn't have enough to due, I sure do now.

Neat ideas Penny! Heard of a recipe for window paint where you mix equal parts dishwashing liquid with equal parts powdered tempera. I'd think you'd have to thin it down too much to make it useful for airbrushing, but for hand applied accents or fun kid painting it's easy clean up. I can just see trying to blow dishwashing liquid paint through and AB...Blow bubbles while you paint! :D

I simply use airbrush acrylics for this. When it comes time to take them off just spray windex on the glass, let it soak a second and wipe it clean!

As far as soap bubbles goes, if you are having trouble with your aibrush, you can spray a solution of water with a couple of drops of dish liquid. Where ever the bubbles appears is where you need to correct your seal just like you do to find a leak with a car tire only you run the water/soap solution through the airbrush.

I often give small paintings as gifts, but I don't do any decorating.

I will be giving two paintings as gifts, this year.

The new shows start (with a vengeance) in January (I already have four competitions with January deadlines, followed by two 'real' shows, one in February, one in March) and any time I can spend painting is spent actually creating new paintings...

Keith be careful you don't get so busy that you forget why you love art to begin with. Burn out is a terrible thing so don't forget to play.

OK, here it is. It's not that great but it is simple and it will do. If you don't like it there is plenty of stuff on the web or you can create your own. I kept it simple so you can add and change what you want.

This is a preview pic the full size one in black and white to download is at http://www.custompaintandairbrushing.com/christmaspuppy

Penny, I'm rebuilding my music studio. Two nights a week, I take a break from painting, and work on a different kind of art...
