Okay I'm either on a crazy up late at night schedule or a crazy getting up late schedule....Here's a couple sets I finished over the weekend.... I tried to get them into one pic but the size differences in the beads made it hard to get a good focus on them all, so I broke them up into 2 sets...

Thom - THose are FAB beads! Really lovely!

Here is mine from last night. I was trying to make enough to filn the kiln. I don't know if I have enough, but I need to drop them off anyways, gotta have the two commission pieces by thursday evening.

First three new catsuit goddesses:

And then some other things, a christmasy hollow in Tink style, some spacers, a hollow heart with shimmer dust (Ice Heart), and a bead gone funky...

the spacers were done 4 to a mandrel, my best evenness yet when doing more than 2 on a mandrel. ;)

Hope to see tons of beauties when I come back!

Hugs from Holland,

PS Smedstad hope you like these as much as you did the commissioned one... ;)

I can't believe I am actually posting this at night! but I am up late, packing to go back east to visit my Grandmom who is not doing well. This morning, I made her a teddybear bead-first time I tried this. also, a red, white and blue set for my sister-a Christmas gift request.

Thom, beautiful hollow beads! I need to get back into those myself!
Sarah-I always enjoy your goddesses!
I'll be traveling this week, away from the torch:( hope everyone has a great week!

here is the red, white and blue set

Here are three new beads for this weekend's show - made with Bullseye and what colors! (Guess what new glass I am needing along with Lauscha now???)

Judy - I hope your Grandma is feeling better and the red, white and blue set will make a great necklace or bracelet. The teddybear is way too cute. Especially the eyes.

Sarah - I am impressed with the accurate sizing on the four spacers. they look to be a perfect match. The cat-suited ladies are wonderful and the shimmer heart? I bet it glows!

Thom - Look at the colors! The purple hollow next to the red dot on the top set - what a color combo! I love hollow beads. (Hmmm. come to think of it, I love almost all beads...)

Always a wonderful thread to view!!

Thom.....Lovely hollows!!!

Sarah....You really are amazing with your progress.....I can't beleive you have only been making beads for such a short time and turn out such wonderful peices!!!

Judy....the bear is adorable and the red and white set is wonderful!!!

Booger....I don't know what kind of glass that is...but I WANT to know.....those colors are wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jill.....always stunning!!! I am hoping to get my CBS this week....Ebay has been incredibly slow for me the last 3 weeks....a total turn around from what it had been.....in a rovolt....I listed everything starting at 99 cents this week.....now I am nervous....LOL

A few close ups of the frit beads..............I had the frit fits last week.....I finally put them away for a bit...LOL

And a shot of my healing burn. This morning there is a nice layer of granulated tissue....I really should get the outer dead skin off......but it hurts to do that.

12-02-2003, 08:11 AM
Katie, what happened? Did you use that miracle cream you had at Glass Stock?

Great button bicone!

12-02-2003, 08:45 AM
Did you use that miracle cream you had at Glass Stock?

Yep :D You really don't want to know HOW I did it.....it really was incredibly stupid on my part....Right hand...directly into the flame until it hit the torch head....one of those....."would you mind paying attention you fool??" Moments  Of course.....the bead I was working on was finished before I tended to the burn.....LOL.

Ok....Must get to work...Staff Meeting in 15 minutes and I dont' have the agenda typed yet.....latersssssssssssss

12-02-2003, 09:55 AM
OWWWW!!!! Katie, I can feel that burn from here! Use lots of aloe vera and vit E to prevent scarring....(your beads look great though....some consolation to the war wound)

Love those bright hollows and lentils this morning- super!

And Ms Booger- that cat head is great!

I did another wisteria bead and got it RIGHT this time and it went to the Bay now....I'll keep the boo boo one for me.

12-02-2003, 10:12 AM
well, i finally got a chance to sit down and work since my dad has been sick, and now that things are better i decided to do some colour mixing, which i've never done, and here's what i came up with.....

i know i used some orchid pink enamel, and mixed two or three colours for some of the greens but...the only thing is that i was so into the mixing i didn't write down what i used.....:( so...i can't tell you what the colours are:confused:

12-02-2003, 10:20 AM
Thom- great sets!
Jacinthe- lovely catsuit goddesses!
Lovely set, Judy!
Booger- great colors, the center green feline-ish face is my fave!
Jill- how do you manage to make your beads ***SO*** sparkly and edible?
Katie- I had a burn identical to that (left hand tho) that just peeled off yesterday... my sympathies! The long bead with magnifiers is great... I love doing stuff like that!
Maureen- excellent colors- hope you can remember the combinations to make more!

Here's my offering for today... yet another one of my adventures into rubino and redux frits....

12-02-2003, 10:30 AM
Katie, ow. That is precisely how my little finger looked last year. (I also accidently touched the torch flame and the torch head-tip.) I felt so dumb. I was very mad at myself.

Well, just wanted to let you know I have been there as well! Everyone have a look and keep in mind... it only takes a fraction of a second to get a burn that looks like Katie's! Ow ow ow.

12-02-2003, 10:48 AM
Everyones work looks so great today, here are some more lentils that I made with scrap stained glass. I'm getting around to using some of the glass by DH bought at an auction some time ago.
The blue has reall great streamlets of white and lt blue running through it.

12-02-2003, 10:58 AM
Great thread today, really super colors! I see a theme of purples/greens and pinks! too bad I have to spoil the theme w/ my Liza Minelli set... (it is an order, shipping out of my house today)...

"Liza Minelli"

WOW! Thanks for all the wonderful compliments everyone! I really love coming here and seeing all the great beads and seeing all the great comments everyone shares with everyone else. It makes me feel very much at home here.

I don't have much time, but trust me, those goddesses are gonna be a limited edition. They take WAY too much time to make. An hour per goddess, with pulling twisties and all. Man... talk about getting blurry eyed... ;)

Here's a bead from a new series I'm working on...
a landscape series with silvered edp and dark ivory... I've been trying to get the look of a winter field with old stone walls winding across it.I'm excited about trying to get some really realistic organic stuff going on. I'm not sure I like the moon though.

This is the first one:

12-02-2003, 11:16 AM
Jen , I love the bead. Suggestion - smaller moon. The large moon makes it look like a space shot but a small one may give the effect you are looking for.

12-02-2003, 11:22 AM
Can't take the credit for anything except the badly shaped bead but wanted to show a pic of some millifiori chips I bought on ebay-

Jen, I agree. I absolutely love the bead, but I think a smaller moon might give a more realistic perspective. Unless, maybe, you made it a full, orange moon. You know how a full moon hanging near the horizon always looks so BIG? Now, why IS that??
Still and all, LOVE the bead

I agree as well... It's just too big... besides the fact that so many people use that moon on their beads.. I may just leave it off entirely and hit the sky with some sputtery silver fuming instead.
Thanks you guys :)

Here is another one of my 1" mandrel beads.

This is a drive by post, I have two sickly children at home today. I love the work that everyone has posted today. I love those transparent lentils, and Booger your faces keep getting better and better all the time. Yummy colors.

Lot's of great eye candy today from everyone!!

Kate... sorry about your burn. Hope it heals quickly! btw... that bicone is way cool!

I've been making lot's of Christmas beads still. Lot's a fun colors!

Have a great day everyone!

12-02-2003, 11:48 AM
Oops... Katie, not Kate... sorry. ;)

I didn't go back and reread it like usual.

Oh Katie!!! I know how that goes. I did just about the same thing last week. I was using some (too) short stringer, then suddenly saw some extra "flame" in my torch and realized that my finger was burning. It was kind of like I saw it before I felt it. Must have fried it well enough to kill a few nerves because it never really hurt too badly. Never really blistered either, the skin on the end of my finger just desicated and peeled off a few days later. That was my right pointer.

Then this past weekend I fell skiing and got a great case oy "skiers thumb" on my left hand. I'm beginning to feel like a bead cripple, and I need to to do my Christmas exchange this week!

12-02-2003, 12:18 PM
I want to chime in with my opinion of Jen's moon.

I like it that size, but if it wasn't as distorted. (It could be distorted a little though and that would work for me.)

(I would like the look of a smaller one as well though, but wanted to say I do like the big size idea, personally.)

12-02-2003, 12:24 PM
RE: touching the lit torch-head

It was kind of like I saw it before I felt it.

Yes exactly, that was how it was for me! And it seemed in slow motion, also. I was like "Oh ph......."

Your top layer of skin just immediately comes off and adheres to the torch tip. Mine didn't hurt either, the first week.

I, too, finished the bead I was working on. I hope I never touch the flame or torch head like that again...

It is interesting, I don't have much of a scar, a year later, and I am sure a small part of the burn was third degree even.

Really gorgeous beads everyone! Love those colours, Maureen...

Here is my effort for the week. These pics are awful. They don't show the little mirrors behind the bumps.

Jen, love the landscape bead!
Brad, sorry the kids are sick! They are lucky to have you playing Doctor Dad. Great bead too!
Margaret that reduction bead is way cool!
Jill those are scrumptious!
Katie that hurts just to look at it! OUCH!
Sherll those are incredible. They remind me of Star Trek for some reason.
Here are a few that didn't last long on Ebay.
I've been very bad and not posting auctions much the past six months. Shows, then home improvements have kept me otherwise occupied!

12-02-2003, 01:42 PM

PS Smedstad hope you like these as much as you did the commissioned one... ;)

Oh yeah. The green one in particular.

12-02-2003, 01:46 PM
Jen, I missed that bead as I went through the beads this morning. It is FANTASTIC! I am from the UK where dry stone walls are everywhere dividing the fields. It made me feel nostalgic...

12-02-2003, 01:49 PM
Beautiful everyone!!!

Wuzzo, am I allowed to ask how you got those beautiful rainbow colors?!!

12-02-2003, 01:55 PM
You certainly can, Linda....

Light amethyst clear base, silver leaf, covered with copper green (or any other light opaque), covered with rubino oro. I do this is a lightly reducing flame until I hit the rubino, when I switch to an oxidizing flame and work cool. Then dot with medium/dark turquoise clear. Poking a hole before you do this will give you the little mirrors, which are amazing but don't show up in the pic.

12-02-2003, 05:14 PM
Wow!! I wish I had gotten here sooner!! I would love to comment on everyone but I need to pick up my youngest from preschool.....

I have been enamoured with frits and silver and reducing anything and everything.... here is my favorite. I entered this in the November Challenge:

And of course now that I have a plethora of CZ's in stock, I just couldn't wait to play.... these pansies have CZ centers:

And this one I call Diamond Mine because it is a mish mash of the frits, silver, and reducing encased CZ's:

Lovely beads everyone!

12-02-2003, 07:44 PM

There's so much eyecandy! You all have no idea how inspiring these pictures are. It actually hurts not have time to go to my torch. I'm waiting on some glass this week, a few colors I've never played with are coming in, so that should be fun---if I ever get to them!

Here are the beads I made for the frit challenge. Potpourri beads:
