Interesting Fagan. I dig it, colors, lines, pattern (really like the leaves and the pants). Only problem I have is her midsection. Seems a bit too articulated, like the top half doesn't go with the bottom half. I do like the sway in the back that conveys the attitude she's wearing on her face.

I like it a lot!!! Carmen makes me smile and takes my eye up and down the work.

I like the patterns contrasted against the non-patterns of her shirt.

I love the colors!

I hope you don't mind me saying this, why is it that only her breast are point up? everything else in this painting is going down. just a question?

07-22-2001, 11:31 PM
Thank you Impulse...it has been fun doing these paintings again. *SMILE*

CEU....she has a bounce to her step? I don't know why they ended up instead of down...I guess gravity hasnt set in with her yet. *laugh* I don't mind your asking....I dont do figure drawings or paintings as a rule...so what ever comes up is what I go with .

07-22-2001, 11:34 PM
Jumping up and down on my seat here. :D:clap: I love the body distortion, the colours and her pointed up boobs. It seems to convey an air of dignity/pride in her walk even though she has to shop at the markets. I love the big hands of the working class type woman and the general movement of the figure.WELL DONE BEV

You do have a very effective and enjoyable illustration style.

Jerry...thank you! This is the style I used for illustrations...not necessarily Carmen but other subjects....*laugh* I thought you would enjoy the mountains I painted in this one.

Thank you Julia! I am glad you enjoyed viewing this painting...I have one more canvas panel that I can do this style with...thinking of what to paint. *SMILE*

Ceu.....he he ...life would be wonderful without the effects of gravity.

07-23-2001, 01:00 PM
I see a series of stained glass panels in your future.....

07-23-2001, 01:10 PM
The effects of gravity have lifted me off my chair laughing, I haven't come down yet!!! Giggle, giggle,, Bright and uplifting so to speak!!! Sunny

I like your style... One question?? What kind of market is she coming back from?

07-23-2001, 01:30 PM

07-23-2001, 10:04 PM
this is a fun piece!
I like all the motions up and down and the repeat patterns used in the different spaces...
almost looks like it could be a stained glass piece pattern...
nice going!

07-23-2001, 10:07 PM
obviously I did not get to the second page of comments...others saw the stained glass aspect too...
maybe you should do a stained glass piece based on this...could be really beautiful...choosing the right glass etc...ginia

07-24-2001, 09:24 AM
Aurora...thank you!! It is nice to do something completely different.

ftb....*Laugh* glad you enjoyed it!

Ginia...thank you! I wish I could do stain glass work. I looked into the materials and the initial cost was rather steep for me. I also want to do pottery....same cost problems there too! *laugh* Carmen has been fun and I can see doing a whole series....but I probably won't do any more.

I always loved your mountains, but I don't want to seem to be one of those men that walks around thinking:

I'm much more sophis tit ated than that.

07-24-2001, 06:31 PM
wow, interesting. so different from your other work i've seen! makes me smile looking at it :) i think you should do more paintings in that style :)

Sexy Carmen. You should paint her dancing Salsa dance :D with Ricky Martin if possible hahahhaha.

I like very much to see such different paintings in WC, paintings that I would never have the idea how to do.

So please do her in Salsa with Ricky in your next Canvas ;) .

Art is soo fun
