Bill, This is lovely! Why have'nt you painted her before? You have the perfect model here - you should do some more paintings of her. Make sure you get this one framed :) This one has a very light and delicate touch to it. I like the mauve against the black.

I like the play of dark and light forms.

Bill,

This is great.. so effective in its simplicity.
Question... are you showing at the Bayou city downtown art festival in Houston in October?

Wooohoooo... I'm all growed up  this is my 100th post :D

You're saying she actually WANTED you to paint her?
I want to do a portrait of my girlfriend, but she's camera shy and almost definitely easel shy.

Anyway, I really like the shadows and highlights on the elbows, one part that I always stuff up on.
Also the neck details are great.

Why are there sheets all over the floor, though? DO you always spill paint or something? Hehe.

Great work... I'll have to go look for more of your stuff now.

Great painting! I love the use of color in the skirt contrasting with the black of the rest of the figure. It centers the eye right on her. A seemingly simple yet very striking work.

Mayet..I have a Large oil (4'x5')of Susan that I will start on monday..I'll try to post as I go along. I also have studies I photographed during the pregnancy...the negs look good..but my enlarger has finally given up the ghost. Some thing this intimate I want to print myself..soooo I get a new enlarger (after 15 years).
Also have plans for fotos of her and Spenser together...So many ideas..so little time!:)

no doubt about the ideas=no time.
good that you're taking the time to do this and the big portrait. Incredible. I love the light and yeah why hadn't you painted that gorgeous thing yet?! Sorry I don't have any suggestions on what to fix, I think she's rendered beautifully and I like the treatment of the negative.
