Set up in the carport this morning to paint this scene.

This is the painting. Oil 12 x 9.

Do you think, considering the brightness of the day, that I should have made it less dark?

Also, should I have made the trees more green?

Wooah! Never saw a better rendering derived from a driveway! Very expressive and interpretive. With the colors you used, the combo is great. Green would me needed if you were attempting to capture a likeness or more natural color.

I smell a "carport" series!

Beautiful! You need the darks to set off the lights. You could go even darker and still not lose the daylight effect.

Must be something in the air today, I was out in my carport painting too! Posted in this forum. :D

Phyllis, I like your, "Daisy Garden".
The colors are great!
It's your painting you can make the trees any color you want.
Do agree some darker areas would make the daisies pop.

I love your picture. It's very impressionistic...which is my favorite style of painting to view and to paint in.

Hey Linda! I worked hard on this and you're giving the credit to Llis?? just kidding--people get us mixed up often. Glad you liked the painting. Phyl (Rennie), not Llis (Franklin)

Hi Diane, It's an ugly driveway--even uglier than most--but the flowers beyond it are pretty.

The carport provided me with the necessary shade and I wish I could do mor paintings from there but it's closed on two sides and the third opens onto the deck which connects it to the house. So this is the only view available.

Guess I'll have to get an umbrella!

I love this Rennie!!!!

I get a real sense of light here, and of being there.

I wish I could have this on my wall to enjoy....and I don't say that often! Very nice!!!

That could be arranged!:D :D :D

Seriously, Larry, I consider that high praise. Especially since you are the one who got me started in the plein air painting. Thank you very much.

Amazing representation of an otherwise banal view. I think it isa marvelous.

((((((Linda))))))

It's ok, really. It's a mistake that several other people have made--some of them numerous times. It doesn't bother either one of us.

This is a beautiful painting, but I think if you put a few more darks in the trees and a larger grouping of daisies you would have a winner,to get what I mean have a look at some of Monet s garden paintings, one that come to mind (dont know the name of it)is a large bed of Iris in front of a row of weeping Willows.

Thanks Allan & Animal. Glad you enjoyed it. I appreciate the suggestion, Allan, but I'll not be changing this one as I want it to remain a true "plein air". If I ever do a studio version or attempt something similar, I'll surely try to remember your advise.
