Not sure if I have done this right as it is the first time I have attempted to post a painting.

If it worked this is an acrylic 10" x 12" on canvas of my cat. First cat portrait after concentrating mainly on marine art and human portraits.

If it hasn't worked, what have i done wrong?

Welcome to the A+W forum, Old Git! Gorgeous cat and painting! The only thing you could try next is to post your picture slightly larger.

Thanks Loretta, the cats actual bed and blanket are very beige, making it all a bit bland, so glad you like the colour change!

A beautiful portrait of your cat. Acrylics give such good whites. Hope you will portray more animals.

Its a great work :).. I believe you aim for more exact realism and acrylics are a bit tricky for that and fur. Just a tip: You may want to make the background and base finished completely first and then the fur surface that slightly overlaps. That way you give a better hair/fur illusion as also you avoid the haloing around the subject.
Looking forward for your next wildlife art!

Adorable! Love the way you've painted this kitty and I really like the composition.

Thanks everyone!
Thanks Fedetony, for the advice. I'm afraid I am not particularly organised with regards to background and foreground, as I usually block in and refine.
I do prefer oils and have a recent one I will add.
Another issue I am facing is taking good photographs, I need to work on my set up.
