View Full Version : DECEMBER A&W Challenge
11-25-2019, 03:50 PM
The Challenge begins on the 1st of each month and continues until the end of the month.
A BIG PLEASE! DO NOT UPLOAD YOUR WORK UNTIL THE 20TH DECEMBER. IT IS A LOT MORE FUN WHEN WE SHOW OUR WORK AT THE SAME TIME.
You have until the end of the month to post your paintings or drawing or even sculptures. You can interpret the images in whichever way you wish. Crop them, change the colors, do two or more images in one painting. Just have fun and enjoy the process.
Images are mine unless otherwise stated such as the RIL.
Looking forward to the 20th
Hummer from RIL

Thanks! And a big thank you for being a blog follower, Penny.
12-27-2019, 02:17 PM
I look forward to your posts, Kay. 😎
Christel - Great, as per usual, esp the cat. I seem to remember that photo being used before in a challenge.
Penny - Purrfect expression!
Chammi - Very clean job with a difficult subject.
Lesley - Good job on the profile, as it is very recognizable.
Kay - I like the way you simplified and retained the essence. I overwork so.
Pancrazio - Nice rendering.
Federico - I smile just looking at that. Love the colors and the light on the grass. Frame this for an instant uplift whenever you view it!
Bonnie - You really captured the feet well.
Patricia - Good values.
Zelda - Eye looks so reflective and life like. Really outstanding.
Kay - Love the "washiness" of the cow and hummer. All that I perceive as difficult you make look so easy!

12-30-2019, 07:52 AM
That is really beautiful Kay. Excellent job on the water.
Well, here is my feeble effort. Nothing like waiting until the last minute  ! I have been attempting to work on it a bit at a time, but I am dealing with an ongoing crisis situation at home, so finding time and interest is challenging, to say the least.
This is a WC on Arches rough, about 9 x 6. The BG is a real mess, and I do not like the bird. Please do not feel obligated to "say something nice", as I just wanted to show I am still attempting to participate.
Kay, thanks so much for hosting and your beautiful art. :cat:
12-30-2019, 03:17 PM
It really isn’t feeble, Joy. It’s got a wintery feel. Well done for joining in.
12-30-2019, 03:22 PM
Joy, I am being honest here. I love your bird and the background, too. The only thing if it were mine I would do, is to splatter some white gouache paint over the background and smaller amount on the bird for some fake snow. I think that would pull it all together. No feebleness about this one. So glad you could join in the challenge.
12-31-2019, 03:58 AM
Joy. I love your beautiful soft focus painting. Good idea to splatter a little white gouache with a toothbrush to make it more wintry! Absolutely NOTHING feeble about this work!!!
12-31-2019, 06:54 AM
Beautiful work everyone and great choice from kay thanks for hosting
Best wishes all
12-31-2019, 08:11 AM
pcj... hope you've finish your piece :)
Zelda... Well done , really like the lighting tones you used :)
Kay.. Your Cow looks great too, yet the hummer bath is outstanding.
Joy.. Your finch has some outenticity! It looks as is supposed to be in the cold...
Thanks for the comments on my cow. Yes, my wife said it was a happy cow.. and it looked great framed. Was given as a present on Christmas.
Great finish for the 2019, and wishing you all a prosperous and healthy 2020.
Love
Kay - Thank you for the suggestion. I was thinking the same about some gouache, but I just got disgusted with the painting and am generally distressed, so my patience is not what it should be. Here is an "improved" version. Thank you all for your comments.
12-31-2019, 01:23 PM
This is exactly what this painting needed, some snowy accent marks. Just perfect!!!
12-31-2019, 02:22 PM
The snowy scene is good to see, Joy. I hope you get through your problem without any more stress.
12-31-2019, 07:27 PM
Really gave the painting 'umphhh' Joy. Lovely.
Thank you all for the kind words!
12-31-2019, 09:13 PM
Snow is great touch...
Kay Lovely hummingbird.
Joy I like your bird and the extra snow really finishes it nicely.
Zelda, Penny, Kay, Chammi, JoyK, Federico Thankyou for nice comments on my drawing.
