Hello, I am in need of some new pastel pencils. I use them mostly for blending and detail work with my soft pastels ( mostly Rembrandt, and some better softer brands as I can afford) . I currently have CarbOthello. What brands are you all using, if you use them. What are the best brands? I would greatly appreciate hearing your opinions. 😊

"Best" is usually just personal experience and preference.

I'm using Faber Castell pastel pencils and they work fine for detail or rough sketching.

If you are trying for something less "fine", I use Charvin water soluble sticks. Sort of hard with squared edges. Work great for laying in underlayment, can work fine if you want them as main pastel, can mix with soft pastels to a degree.

CarbOthello, Derwent and Brunzeel are my favorites.
