Hi friends, I am using Pastelbord for the first time and I have run out of tooth in one area. This is a 16X20 Ampersand and I went to change the color after making a mistake. It seems like I cannot get my pastel to stick to the one area and wondering if there is some kind of spray or something like a Jesso I could apply over the one area that would give me grip.Anybody ever have this problem?

Thanks

Jeff

Did you try to loosen the pastel with a bristle brush? If careful, maybe you can remove that section and repaint. Just be gentle.

Thanks Karen for the reply. I will try that, not sure if there is any tooth left at all so may experiment with adding some, somehow.

I tried some PastelBord and had similar results, Jeff. I was not able to put many layers down on it. Since I'm very new to pastels, I thought perhaps it was my touch or the way I was making marks. I wish it had more grit. I have come to love the UArt 400 paper.

Consider some light fixative and see if you can add onto that.
