Hi.

Can you please help me decide the best color for the shadow box?

This is what I'll place inside:

This is the type of shadow box I'll be making:

Just like the one in the picture, the corners will be white, but what color should I use for the rest of the shadow box (the sides and back)?

It's for a friend's new apartment. She has zero decoration and her walls are white.

These are the colors I can choose from. Can you please propose more than one option? The shop might have ran out of a particular color.

Thank you in advance :).

Since your object you are placing inside is mostly olive green, I'd choose a warm color such as red or red orange as its complement.

Thank you KreativeK. My friend thought about "cooper mate" or "melon mate" from the options I showed, but she says she's unsure because she doesn't know about color theory. What do you think?

try converting photo to greyscale to see how the value contrast is.

often a value study can help determine how well the COI is emphasized

Can you please explain that birdhs? I don't understand . Also, which of the photos do you suggest that I turn to greyscale?

Photograph it on a white, a midtone grey and a black background. See which makes it stand out most effectively in terms of value. Then choose a colour in that value range. (value is dark to light)

I would recommend choosing a relatively neutral colour so that your piece stands out against it. (i.e. choose a dusty rose or a reddish grey over a pink or red)

In terms of hue, you will probably want to choose one of these:
- a reddish tone (compliment to green)
- a gold tone to match the gold side of your piece
- a white/grey/black

Hope you find the perfect framing colour!

The same color as inside would be nice.
