View Full Version : Confused about shipping with glassine

Many people suggest taping glassine paper over unframed paintings, but won't the customers drag it over the surface, or wrinkle/smoosh the glassine mess up what's underneath? If they lift it many times, won't it shift the pigments?

I'm paranoid, so I usually build a shallow box with a "roof" so the painting doesn't touch anything. Then I build an outer cardboard box to ship it.

But I wonder if it's annoying for customers deconstruct the box to take out the painting.

Also, it's complicated to build this box every time. I almost want to give up and just use a simple glassine sandwich, but I'm worried customers will mess up the surface while trying to lift the glassine.

I can see why you are concerned about the glassine. If you send your buyer a warning to carefully lift the tape, then the glassine, also warning of smudging with too much movement, you should be okay. :crossfingers:
